Tokyo pool rooms

I lived in Kanagawa and played in the rooms in that area. I can't speak to the immediate Tokyo Station area, but can tell you that there are rooms all over greater Tokyo. I remember seeing signs for some rooms when I took the train from Yoyogi to Akihabara. There was a promising room in Shibuya about a block away from Hachiko, and there was a nice pro shop just around the bend from Tower Records Shibuya. Can you read the hiragana for billiards? If not, learn it and you'll soon be spotting rooms all over the place.

If you want to play carom billiards, Japan is a good place to be.

Thanks LC3. Unfortunately, I will only be in Tokyo for the next week. Not nearly enough time for me to learn hiragana.

Ditto, can't go wrong with just walking around. I saw signs for pool halls when I was walking around Shibuya headed toward Shibuya 109 and played in one in Ikebukuro about 1 block from the train station. The equipment was very well maintained and super clean!

Any good pool rooms within close proximity of Tokyo station? Thanks.

Look on the internet for the chain called Bagus Billiards, there is one in Roppongi by the Hard Rock Cafe...it's about a 5 minute walk from the subway...good luck...when are you going, I will be in Tokyo from the 11th - 27th of April...have a great trip.

I'm here now until next Thursday. Thanks!

I think there is some around Ikebukuro.
My information is from like 5 years ago tho.

Google map it. Search Tokyo Japan and search area with "billiard"

Yeah, I got the PM this morning. Sorry I could be of more help, man. I don't spend a lot of time in Tokyo. In 20 years I've probably played pool in Tokyo two or three times. I wouldn't even begin to know where any pool rooms are.

Hey, you are in Japan though, man. Go to the counter at the hotel and tell them that you want to "play billiards" don't say "shoot pool" they won't know what the hell you mean. Tell the person you want to play some (pronounciation) "Billy ya doe". I bet you a million dollars they'll find a place for you. If they don't understand what you're saying just gesture playing pool.

Give me a call if you need help talking to the staff. I speak Japanese and I'm off work today and tomorrow.

PM with my phone number sent.

MULLY
wouldn't surprise me if someone from the counter took you there

There's a place called Eagle's Billiards, but never been there.

There's a place where Top Pro, Naoyuki Oi, is sponsored...called Flannel. It is way north-east Tokyo in Nishi Takashi Madaira. Small pool room, but good equipment and friendly atmosphere.

Hard to find a pool room for non-Japanese speaking.

There should be some "foreigner" bars all over the Tokyo area....that may have pool tables.

I think I do remember a place in Akihabara. It look almost like a warehouse inside. It had a lot of tables and was packed with players. Can't remember the name/location though.

Does anyone know where Yoshikazu Kimura's pool room is located?

I've been to two places near Shinjuku station (about 5-8 min. walk):

"Sometime" (that's what it's called) is in the Humax Pavillion, fifth floor.
Phone: (03) 3208-0127

"Bagus" is very close by. Can't find their contact info.

Good equipment at both places. "Sometime" has more of a "player's" atmosphere, and there were some serious players present the night I was there; "Bagus" was all bangers but cleaner. This information is two years out-of-date so you should call before you go.

Good luck.

I've seen pretty good house cues in some Japanese pool rooms. Many rooms have tournaments, but you'll be at a disadvantage if you don't speak enough Japanese to know when they are and to understand the rules.

Briandlau, did you get to play while you were in Tokyo?
