Tom Huff?

It's definately a nice cue for the price. I'd say someone will snatch it up pretty quick. I just wonder how it will perform with the pin being in the shaft instead of the butt of the cue tho. But definately a very nice looking cue.

I'm just guessing.....but, there is a local fellow in Seattle with that name who makes some nice cues ;)

There's a jump/break for sale on ebay. The seller says it is made by a Tom Huff.

The ad also says he sells these for $150 to locals. Looks like nice work just going by the pictures, especially for the price.

Just never heard the name Tom Huff.

you replied to a post about a person named "Huff" and the thread was not good for him. do a search on the forums for "Huff" and see what you come up with. it might bring back your memories.

I believe Tom Huff has made a name for himself by making travel cues for 3-cushion & pool that break down in 3 or 4 sections to easily fit into a suite case. If it's the same guy, I met him once and he was very nice. Probably hits real solid but don't expect the best finish just a solid cue.

I was unlucky enough to have won one of Tom Huff's auctions on ebay a few years ago.

The cue I got was crap.

Bad finish... the pin in the jump/break portion of the butt actually could be turned or unscrewed just by using my fingers... poor wood quality.

The cue I got had a leather wrap. You could see the seam and also, the cut/seam in the leather wrap was not straight.

On the pictures, it looked okay. Once I got it, I saw how bad the workmanship was.

Since I live on the other side of the world, shipping it back to him and asking for a refund would have just been a pain.

Firewood, in my opinion.

For the record...Tom Huff is a gentleman out of Tacoma, WA who does alot of conversion cues and some really neat travelling cues...they break down to like 5 peices and usually come with a case.

The other Huff is David Huff out of Ferrum, VA. He has changed eBay ID's many times, but the Ferrum, VA should be the dead giveaway.

Tom Huff is in no way affiliated with David Huff.

And for the record, the cue I got is signed "Tom Huff" and it is a travel cue and this is not a "David Huff" cue.

Tom Huff may be a gentleman... I wouldnt know. But the cue I got from him is crap.

I still have it tucked away in my cue cabinet, just in case you are interested. Pay me for shipping and I'll gladly send the cue over to you.

Oh... and I'm holding the cue right now... and this is exactly how it is signed... "Custom Crafted by Huf , Tacoma USA".

The Huf is signed with a small caricature or something... I dont know what the heck that is.

As in life, you get what you pay for. Shouldn't expect a 'corvette' on 'corvair' money.

Oh good grief, there must be something in the water.....I was not addressing your post specifically, and I apologize if there was a misunderstanding. I wasn't using 'gentleman' as I know he's a nice guy, since I do not know him at all...it was merely meant as a descriptive.

I am sorry that you are unhappy with the cue you received from him...I have heard from others in the past that were happy with theirs. Perhaps you should contact Tom Huff and voice your complaints.

I was merely trying to clear up that difference between Tom Huff, and David Huff, who has caused quite a few problems around here. Sorry for the confusion.

I think many of us have thought that after reading some replies. :D :D

Sean,

Hope you don't mind if I edited your post:

No need to get in a Huf. You shouldn't expect a 'corsair' on a 'corvair' budget.

I wasnt expecting a Corvette... or a Mercedes...

Well, I wasnt expecting the cue to be a Mottey as well.

But when I bought it, I bought it during the time that I had some disposable income lying around... and I was still at newbie when it came to cues.

And I bought it because I needed a travel cue, since I travel a lot.

I remember the Huf cue to be the 3rd cue I got off of the bay... the first two being a Viking demo cue (the one with the Lifesaver colors), and a Mcdermott Gecko cue. :p

I have since moved on to better cues (I think) and since I hardly dispose of my collection, I have kept most of the cues that I started with.

And life goes on... :)

Well, I'll let everyone know what kind of cue I get for the money.

Probably not going to get hurt real bad as I won it for $49.99. :)

I only had a max of $51 so I thought surely someone would snipe it.
