In about a month, I'll be taking a class with Tom Simpson of poolclinics.com.

I'm curious whether anyone has taken any of Tom's classes. What did you think of the classes? What did you think of Tom?

I have not but someone I know did and she really thought he was great. She is a very good player and use to be married to a pro but she said it was some of the best money she ever spent...

I've not taken his classes, but I've met him and played pool with him a few times, and I've discussed instruction with him. I suspect he'd do a great job.

Tom Simpson is by far one of the best instructors in the world. I highly recommend his instruction for anyone that is willing to work at improving their skills.

Tom is a BCA Master Instructor and may I add, one of the best in the business.

I have spent about 100 hours with Tom, if you're willing to work....he will help.....SPF-randyg

This is good to hear, especially from BJ and RandyG. I have been slated to take Toms road classes here in ATL a couple of times, and either had a last minute scheduling conflict, or had a low signup and class was rescheduled. He had a very successful event here in July at The Pool Room, (which I couldn't attend), but everyone involved had nothing but glowing reviews. I have purchased equiptment from him and he is nothing but professional. Working now to schedule something for ATL, really looking forward to the opportunity to work with him.

I just spoke to him 4 days ago. I ordered some shirts from him and he was was short of one of the sizes I was looking for. So we went one size bigger and then he wanted to give another shirt for free for my trouble. I'm like, "Really? That is nice of you, but don't sweat it. I appreciate your gesture though." As far as a business person being personal, how can you argue with that?

I've never taken a class from Tom, but have been in classes with him, and I feel like your time with Tom will be money well spent.

Bob

I have taken classes from Tom. I thought they were well worth it. They will definitely improve your game.

Well that's about as positive a response as I've ever seen. Thanks! Our event is in danger of being shortened to two days instead of three due to lower turn-out, but I hope that's not the case.

Tom Had Done A Clinic Here At The Pool Room In Duluth, Ga., Everyone In The Class Had Nothing But Praises For Him. As A Person, He Is A True Gentleman. I'm Looking Forward To Tom Doing More Clinics At Our Locations.

Well, Chris (co-owner of the pool hall) posted about Tom's visit too, but I wanted to pop in on this thread to say a few things. First, obviously, is that the classes start this Saturday - a few days from now. I'm excited. I spent a little time hitting around an OB-1 yesterday to get ready for the class, but most of my time has been spent refining a few things. Make no mistake about it - I'm barely above "banger" level right now - but I've been trying to correct some fundamental flaws (wrist angle, straightness of stroke) so that I'm not trying to fix 10 things on day 1... maybe just 8. ;-)

I'm looking forward to it. I may also pick up one of the Stinger break cues. Again, I'm not good enough to warrant it, but I hope to be and I've heard good things about them. I also don't want to break with my regular cue, and I won't have any real "house cues" at my house.

Speaking of which, the pool room here at my house should be done around February 1... good timing.

P.S. If I understand things correctly, there may still be an opening or two. Contact Tom if you're in the area (Erie, PA area).

I took one of Tom's 3 day classes back in August. He is a true professional in every sense of the word. He is very organized, he adapts his training to each student based on their needs and he really cares about the game.
You will feel as if you are getting a lot of help and info for the small cost of the session. I highly recommend Tom's classes to anyone at any level that wishes to improve.
You'll love the Stinger too! If you have any further questions feel free to PM or email me. Best of luck.. Joe Koontz
