The 1992 U. S. Open champ played an unbelieveable tournament, I wish he could have closed it out. I didn't witness his play but he must have been in a zone. He hasn't played this kind of pool since 1992 that I know of. Congrats, Tommy, you almost hit the "juggler" vein.

Being Johhny Archer playing partner might have had something to do with that incredible play:D and then them not being playing partners and him not winning a major tournament since then might be linked as well..but make no mistake Mr. Kenndy can play. He earned my respect when he gave praise to the Good Lord for his shooting skills...I hear he is a stand up guy...Way to go Tom ..hope you snap a major one off soon:D

I've met him on a few occasions, he seems like a real nice guy.... maybe a little too nice

In 1992, I was in Chicago and got pickpocketed. Not 5 minutes after I realized I was pickpocketed I saw Tommy Kennedy and he smiled and asked me what I was doing so far from home. I told him I had just been pickpocketed and was busted. Without saying a word he immediately handed me some money and told me to pay him back in Florida.

^ You get pick pocketed in a State far from where you live, and not 5 minutes later someone you know, who also happens to be in Chicago, magically shows up with some extra cash to lend you?.... Coincidence? I think not!

Tommy is a great guy, I first met him in 86 when he was in town for a tournament, he played me cheap sets and did not mind if I asked him questions, he helped me out with safety play.:)

Everytime he was in town we would play together, super nice guy.:D

I felt really bad when Earl played him at the Flamingo and robbed him of 16K:eek:

He has not been back since then.

Tommy know's what it is like to be out of town with no money.
Buddy Hall told us a story once that happened in the late 80's, can't remember where. Tommy was held up and the robbers only got $35.00
off him, he & Buddy had washed out of the tournament they were in and were both broke, Buddy said with that laugh of his...."Hell, if they would have robbed me all they would have got was practice".LOL:D

I really like and respect Tommy. We've played a couple of times and not only is he a great pool player, but also extremely nice. You will never hear a bad word about him come out of my mouth.

I should have mentioned I was at a pool tournament in chicago, that Tommy barely knew me, and that I never forgot this kindness. I was just trying to show, through an actual event that happened in my life, that Tommy is a great guy as well as a pool champion.

The end of that story is I immediately took the money and matched up with it. I paid Tommy back while in Chicago.

Tommy has one hell of a break. I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned in that thread a while back about who had the best break.

I first saw Tommy Kennedy in Binghamton, NY, with Gary Pinkowski. Tommy was still in "outlaw" mode at the time. I didn't realise who he was until he'd left. I'd heard of him before. I finally met him at Gametime/Sportys in Greenville when he was there for a tournament. Talked to him for about 20 minutes. Seemed like a real nice guy.

I know TK from the old days when he cursed, smoked and gambled. We ended up in alot of the same places through the yrs until he turned to his "new life". We still speak of old days and laugh...

Put that thing in the ashtray and back away...you've had too much.

I've known Tommy since he was a kid. We both grew up playing the same tournaments (Spatz, Linc-Inn, FBI, Jimmy's, etc...). My dad worked on his cars basically for free or a small charge so he could travel (with me a lot of times) to play tournaments for ?0 yrs. We'd be going down the road to play, me with a beer in hand and him singing to Christian tapes. When he did quit gambling I let him hold Bible Study in the pool room I managed in the middle of the night with friends on a regular basis.

He doesn't have a dishonest bone in his body and I doubt anyone here has ever even heard him say a neg thing about anybody.

You have to give him credit for being a (starving sometimes) player that did what most of us didn't have the balls to do and that's make pool a career no matter what it took.

Voodoo Daddy - Me, Buddy, Tommy, Corey( even though he's a kid), and few others were sitting around reliving some of the old days disfunctional adventures this last weekend. :)

(and yes he was playing very well all weekend long)

I can't think of one person's face I would rather see when I walk in a poolroom than Tommy. He has a glowing smile for everyone, and the most cheerful disposition of anyone I know. Nothing gets him down and he always has a positive outlook on life. How many people can you say that about?

What a wonderful attitude Tommy has. We should all be so lucky. Not only is he just about the most friendly and sincere person that you will ever meet, he is a damn good poolplayer to boot. It was no accident that he won the U.S. Open. The surprise is that he hasn't won more big tournaments.

Tommy is high on my list of the best people I know, poolplayer or otherwise.

Have you ever seen him "juggle" the balls on a pool table? SUPERB!!
