Hi Jenn,

Happy New Year to you! Well, just in case anyone didn't know, I wanted to let them know you're on TV tomorrow (Tuesday Jan. 4th). I'm in Arizona, and I think it starts at 3:00 (check times for your local listing). After "talking" to you on this website, I can't wait to see you play. Granted, it won't be the Jenn vs. Jeanette Swimsuit match I asked Santa for, but a guy's gotta have a starting place and some good goals, ha, ha! Seriously, Jenn, I wish you all the best in your upcoming TV career. Don't miss the show, Gang!

Best regards,

Steve

I'm really looking forward to seeing Jenn play tomorrow. I love to see new players on TV, especially now that they are sharing their thoughts and experiences on this board. But, I'm going to say the same thing I said to Melissa. Seeing Jenn on TV is only going to spoil us and we're going to want to see Jenn (along with Melissa, Sarah, and Lisa) constantly making the TV rounds. Jenn, I look forward to watching your matches and wish you the best of luck this season.

PJ

Thanks Steve & PJ,

Something tells me we are going to be seeing a lot of new faces on TV in 2005. I really think the level on the women's tour has jumped dramatically and there are a lot more ladies on tour that are capable of getting to TV and even winning events.

I have to say...I'm really nervous about watching my matches. I can only remember the things I did wrong!

Jenn

I'm in the Central time zone (St. Louis area)! What time and what channel? I'm assuming ESPN2? Best of luck in your future endeavors Jenn and thanks for all you do and will do for our great sport of the cueing arts. The website looks great!
I agree totally about the uprising stars on the WPBA. I watched Melissa Herndon and Karen Korr play last night and both played well.

Thanks,
Zim

ESPN2

Matches start at 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time and 6:00 pm EST

(Zim, that's 4:00 and 5:00 for you :D )

That was certainly a fun match to watch. Some intense action there, especially going from 6-2 to 6-6. There were some great shots (especially that 3-9 combination). It was awesome that you were able to keep your composure and pull out the win. I look forward to seeing the semifinal match.

I also didn't know that you were originally from Norristown. I go to school in Collegeville.

PJ

Hey PJ,

Watching that match completely stressed me out, even though I knew the outcome! I think I play better in the semifinal match because I can only remember a couple of mistakes. One of them was when I miscued on the break when I'm down 6-5 and Julie slops in a nine ball for the win. Ouch. Luck of the Irish, I guess.

Hi Jenn,

Now that you've seen yourself on ESPN playing a match, what do you think of yourself? I haven't seen the match yet, although I recorded both matches from last night as well as the ones from this night so that I can just kick back and watch 4 hours of pool (well, actually less since I fastforward through the commercials).

Hi Jenn,

Good show last night! From the cut shot on the first nine (which Efren would have liked) to your five game run, I was impressed. Strong break you've got there, too. I also liked the way you kept your composure when Karen started to come back strong. It would have been real easy to fold at the end, but you hung in there. I would have definitely pulled that cue ball on the last nine back into the side pocket!!!

Looks like you have a lot of fans. It was nice to see your mom in the audience. I look forward to this being the tip of the iceberg for your future TV appearances, Jenn. Do you know when the match between you and Julie will air? Take care and keep up the good work!

Regards,

Steve

Hey Wendy,

That was the first time I've seen myself on video, and I was pretty happy with my mechanics. I knew when the mistakes were coming so I checked to see if I jumped up or something, but I didn't...I guess I just aimed wrong. The first time I watched it I only saw the mistakes, but then when I got home I watched it again and I realized that although I didn't play perfect I did a lot of good things and created a lot of chances for myself.

Hunter,

It was cool having my mom there. That was the first time she ever saw me play! All I was thinking in that last rack with Karen was that after she gave me that one opportunity in the beginning I was going to do everything in my power to take advantage of it, so when I got ball in hand I knew there was no way I was going to blow it. My match with Julie will air tomorrow (6th) on ESPN2 at 4:30. I think I played really well in that match, but it's kind of a blur. I guess we'll see!

JennBarretta, I'm no expert by any means but I thought that your mechanics were excellent. I noticed that immediately.

You played jam-up. I think you impressed a lot of people.

Well, you've done gone and spoiled her :D. She's going to expect a tv appearance every time now. Let's hope that happens.

When you were about to drop the final 9 on Karen and you were down on the shot I thought I heard 2 loud bangs in the background. I did not rewind the tape to check it again. Was I hearing things?

I thought maybe Julie Kelly was behind the seats dropping folding chairs trying to shark you :D

I don't usually post much, but wanted to let you know that you were VERY impressive against Karen. You certainly maintained your composure during Karen's catch up phase, and managed to take the win. Now, I'm bummed out because I have to work tonight (Weds) and tomorrow night and will miss the finish to this televised tournament.

Seems there are great things for you in the future, Jennifer. :)

Hey Wally,

Everyone in the arena was asking me if I heard that, but on the video was the first time I heard it. It must've been really loud, but at that point I was so focused on getting out that I didn't even notice it.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the vote of confidence! If you miss the match today I'm sure they'll rebroadcast it at some point. Just look for the Florida Classic.

Hey Jenn... I saw the match as well, and one thing that both my wife and I noticed right off the bat was how WIDE those rails were on the table!! It appeared that from the rail to the edge of the table was at least 10", which has to make it harder for you to shoot on. Was it more challenging? I noticed that it was the reason you couldn't make the jump shot in the first few games...

Ross

Hi Jenn,

I saw your match yesterday, and I have to say that you played with "cohones". I was impressed not just with your shotmaking and mechanics, but at your composure when Karen started to come back and it looked as if the match was slipping through your hands. That's usually about the time when I start to think, "oh well I'm a goner", and next thing you know it's all downhill from there. But, you kept it together and pulled through. I can't even imagine the pressure of 1. playing on TV for the first time, 2. after having that lead, being on the hill, 3. playing #1 Karen Corr, and last but not least 4. playing on TV for the first time against Karen Corr on the hill with possibly your last chance at the table. Way to go!!!

Another thing, during the recap of the games that Karen started catching up on, there was one where you were shooting at the 8 and missed, and then you immediately turn around as if, according to Mitch Laurence, you had been distracted. Were you? Also, and this is my "conspiracy theory" thing going on in my head, I heard the 2-3 loud bangs when you were down and about to shoot your final 9 ball and was wondering if it was just a coincidence. I thought I heard a cell phone ringing a couple of times too. Things that make you go hmmm....

Anyway, enough yapping! You did great and you made your mother proud!!!

Hey Wendy,

When I was just about to shoot that 8 ball one of the production guys who was sitting directly behind me yelled into his mike "Hey, Bob...It's Ira!!!". It was so loud it made me jump (and miss), but for some reason you couldn't hear it on TV like the cell phones and the loud banging on the final 9. So yeah, Mitch was right on when he said that. In that final rack after I got an unexpected opportunity I told myself that there was no way I was going to give it away...Karen was going to have to rip it from my cold dead hands!

Ross,

Those rails were at least 8" wide! When I was trying to get in position for a jump shot I kept sliding off...it was pretty funny. The table played very well, though.

they should have the "Quiet Please" signs held up during match play like they do in golf

The audience is told in no uncertain terms how to behave before the taping starts.

It sounds like all hell was breaking loose while Jennifer was playing. At least nobody popped a camera flash at her. I did hear a couple of cell phones ringing during the match. They should escort those people from the arena to set an example.

That ending vs. Julie was just unfair. Even without the miscue (which I'm sure I can say we've all done millions of times), the way the 9-ball went in was just wrong. Whatever happened to the rule where you had to call the 9-ball on a combination? :D That was still an awesome performance, Jenn, and a fun match to watch.
