Nobody utters a peep about the person who set Tony up so he would not have to go through what Tony went through.
What I find kind of brutal about the whole Tony saga is that nobody gave a damn about while he was going through the punishment. He mentioned he was struggling to get through the multi-year time dump and was quite often blue. I can count on one hand how many in the pool community kept in touch with him during this time. I told him then that you know who you friends are when you go broke, get sick, or go to jail. And he found out the hard way.
Fast forward four of five years, Tony became 'da man, winning one-pocket tournaments, and everybody wanted to bet a part of his orbit. His Facebook friend count went from 300 to the limit, 5,000. I hope Tony remains humble, and I think he will. As an aside, he has always been so very polite to me and always took time out to share a few words, online and in person.
My other half knew Tony from California since he was a pup. I met him in 2002 at the Open. Here's a few early pics. I have many.
