Tony Chohan signs with Meucci.................

Read up on malum in se and malum prohibitum. These are very important distinctions to consider when taking the measure of a man.

100%. it's also the case of malum (used to be) prohibitum, but is now legal in most states.. pointless to bring up in the first place imo. tony's such a brilliant player. focus should be on his incredible 1p game, not his past mishaps

There's quite a few American pros with bones in the closet, some known, some not known. Some are even Hall of Famers, but like you say, they're great pool players. People can change for the better in life. It's rare, but it happens. :)
While I am generally a stone cold pessimist, when it comes to the nature of man, I am not. Must be my Catholic upbringing. While we all have many imperfections, I feel mankind is inherently good. We all aspire to improve and do, some better than others. Sadly, there are some poor folks who happen to auger in too deep and find it impossible to extract themselves from the morass they are in. Such hell bound trains all deserve to be understood and some may even deserve a helping hand.

I am no bleeding heart. Life is what you make of it, but there is no one, however, who has not benefited from a boost or a shove at some point in their life.

So. "No, JAM", change for the better is not rare.

he has a closet full of bones. no angel at all. great pool player.
Thanks for the hi-jack. You just gave me the green-light to shit on every thread you ever start. Props bro. Tony was in bad shape $-wise and drove for some dealers. He got caught and did his time. He's a great guy and you're an a-hole. I think i'll just toss you in the Ignore dumpster instead. No time to even read your shit.

i just said what was true and didnt really shit on him as people were glorifying him.
you seem to flip flop on people you disagree with and get nasty at times. i can live with that and can understand it. just your personality.
after all its just a forum where people post things that pop in their heads or have something to say. value or not.
dont become a weakling stand up and battle it out. ignore isnt what you really want is it.

"Glorifying" is a bit strong. You had no intent to communicate "truth" or you would have.
As a neutral observer, I don't think Maha's comment was untruthful in the least. You wrote "I never saw him get out of line. I say this because back in the day, the young guns usually attracted my attention because they acted the fool and got themselves into incredible predicaments. Chohan was completely the opposite". Tony did something very foolish and got himself into one of the worst predicaments.

I have always been a fan of Tony since we first met. I worked at (and played out of) the Sacramento Hard Times when he was maybe 16 and running around with Amar and others. He is an incredibly nice person, an extremely gifted player, but certainly "no angel" like maha stated.

i toned it down. didnt say anything about him going to jail for drug dealing. just said bones in his closet. whats wrong with that. or is he on so high a pedestal that no one can even say the truth about him when it is talked about. if you dont want to hear the truth or anything unpleasant dont start saying how great a person is in the first place.

didnt you see the video of him talking down to svb in the pool room going way over board mocking him..
i said he is a great pool player and he certainly is.
and most people like him and that is a testament to his personality.

look how some denigrate fats on here.. people give out opinions readily and its okay. those that never met him and he is dead. he really was a great kind hearted person and helped out so many people right from his own pocket.

I think we all have skeletons in our closet.

It's just that for most of us we've been lucky they remained in the darkness. But for others their skeletons have escaped into the light of day. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we've all made mistakes. There's no need to highlight the failure of others because there, but for the grace of God,...

It is a tough judgement and one size fits neither every judge nor defendant.

It bothers me greatly that celebrities with known issues often do PSAs in an effort to keep others from same bad choices. Do they think the recipients don't see fame, fortune, fun and its all ok in the long run?

People commit crimes for more reasons than could be counted. The law proscribes the intolerable and prescribes the punishment. It, not we, determines when the scales are leveled.

tony's barking game is just an act to get a matchup. alex has his shtick too. there's no malintent there, and it doesn't really say anything about them as persons
Exactly right. Some are better at it than others. :)
