Who agrees with me. Even tho Allison and Karen have dominated their sport for quite some time, I believe unless they open up their swings (let it out, de snookerize their 9-ball play) they will soon be passed up by the younger players. Tiger woods changed the golf world, Efren changed the billiard world, we'll soon see it in the women's tour. Ally and Karen, you better be prepared (Corr closed up her bridge/someone quoted in another thread hummmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe its starting). BF

i wholeheartedly disagree.....

first of all, you're asking players to not be what they are.

secondly there's no proof that their snooker stroke is hindering them. their snooker style is a style just like, or just as different, as the hundreds of indivisual styles out there. in fact, their snooker upbringing is more like an advantage that others should adopt. A and K can draw table length on a long, straight in shot, which i don't see other women doing well. and what about those "tweeners in the men who play with an open bridge or who have tighter swings that others. should THEY change too?

thirdly, no one is coming close to catching A and K except in allison's case, it's complacency and age. they're getting bored without the competition.

fourthly,,,the wpba better hope the whole womens snooker world doesn't up an decide to come play in america. women's pool has already been and continues to be, flipped on its ears,,,,,,,,,,by the snooker players from abroad.

NOT ME. Not saying there is not going to be younger players that will give them comp, but I am sure there are things that both women do from time to time to tweak how they play, that we don't see. Do you think that maybe the stroke that they have is part of the reason the both play position so well. It works for them...If it aint broke don't fix it.

Bruin must be hibernating (asleep in his cave); Karen has already been passed (Jeanette has beaten her the last 5 times in a row, and Allison has beaten her an ungodly number of times). See the thread on Melissa Herndon's forum. I also think that a power player (hopefully Jeanette now that she is practicing again) can unseat Allison. Having said all that, I certainly don't think Karen is washed up - I wouldn't want to bet against her in any single match.

Power Player/Jeanette

Good point. One has to realize, (1st poster) the more speed to apply to your swing the more you consider closing it up. I think Karen has realized this. As always, the more swing you have the more you can do with whitey. You don't see very many people break with an open bridge. BF

Bruin

You said it buddy! I'm always amazed at how effortlessly Allison draws the cb the length of the table. If you can do that and make the shot consistently, your stroke is working just fine as far as I'm concerned.

let's just wait and see. plus, i already said allison has been losing it for a while, but more by her own lack of intensity, imo.:):):)

i have not watched the women, but my question is,,,has A and K been slipping or has JL been playing great(and for how long)

I don't know whether to disagree or agree with the original thread. Allison and Karen are both incredible players with their snooker ways. Although they have changed their games a little bit to be more like pool players. Both are breaking hard and using a closed bridge on occasion. Their fundamentals are so strong from their snooker background so it is hard to argue that they should change.

As for Jeanette, she is playing well. She has been working on her game for months now and has rededicated herself to the game. It is paying off. She is really trying hard to regain the top spot. She should have won the tournament in San Diego, a costly mistake at the end of the set cost her. Other than that she played well.

And for the comment about the younger players coming up. All I have to say is watch out because we are moving up quickly. Will the younger players change the game? Who knows. I know there are some to keep an eye on though. One especially is Ga Young Kim. With a few more high finishes she will settle into the top 10 quickly.

I was impressed with Ga Young Kim too. I think she's going to be a real contender. I haven't seen you play yet but am anxious to because I'm hearing so many good things about you. Keep it up!
