Too much emphasis on cues???

As I previously mentioned Players are good hitting cues and Lucasi are very good too. AND Cue and Case is a wonderful company to do business with so I'm positive they fixed you right up Manaic. I have no problem with production cues, I sell them and would never be snobbish about any cue that someone has. Maybe the custom thing is a natural progression of 29 years of pool, or that my cuemaker used to be my former business partner and I'm getting a good deal. It's also the enjoyment of choosing the wood, veneers and the gems and watch it become a piece of art.
Please don't label me a snob.

How could I label you a snob when you haven't even remotely been critical of anything?
BTW, how did I make out in our "car comparison" ?:D :D :D

There is nothing better than taking out your low dollar cue and dusting off some person with a high dollar Southwest, Black or whatever! Maybe even drop it on the floor a couple of times, kick it around and then run off a rack.

Its also quite a rush to join a threesome at the golfcourse (they've got the latest and greatest and most expensive stuff/clothes you can buy) with junky clubs and using those ugly yellow balls and kick some butt.

When I lived in California - I knew a world class road racer (bicycle) that would put this daughter in her bike seat then go to the trails in that area and blow away the local guys. How it hurt them to be on their 3K DeRosa's, Merckx's or whatever and not be able to keep up with a guy that had his kid on the bike with him.

I belive that an individual picks a cue that he or she fits thinks fits their personna and also how they want to be perceived by others. My multiple semi schizo personality dictates that I have a couple of nice cues and couple of not so nice ones. Most of the time - I use a "not so nice" cue that plays as good as most expensive cues.

You are either a child or have very low self esteem, which is it?

Simply put, Most people only remember the things said to them that were in a negative light. Hence the original poster only mentioning the "cue biggots".

It's happens everywhere. I think that this board is full of people that offer genuine advice and opinions with a few that have to be as ass every once in awhile.

I remember getting the feeling when first starting to lurk around here that if you don't play with a custom cue, you are just some joke. Of course if you read the full posts, you quickly see that most people are positive about people just getting into the game, no matter what you shoot with.

I have many idiot freinds that will give you the riot act and call you every bad thing around if you come in with a low dollar cue. Unfortunately, they are everywhere in this world. you just have to take it all in stride.

You can get to the same places in either a Daewoo or a Ferrari, it is just depedent on how you enjoy the ride!! same with cues I have about 12 custome cues and play with them all at one time or another.

All a matter of A.C.D ( Accute Cue Disorder ) and the only cure is to buy more cues!!!

Amen!!!!!!

So, now I'm an ass? And I never even used the word bigot in my post. The intent of my post was only to mildly complain to people being critical of less costly equipment. If you read my subsequent posts you will see that basically I'm just a fun-luvin' kinda guy who lives life my way and lets others do the same (as long as you ain't steppin' on none of my family). I even went so far as to apologize to anyone I may have offended. I even stated in my first post that I wasn't tryin' to pi$$ anybody off. O.k., I'll concede that my text on my original post could have been worded a bit differently. But, an ass??? If you knew me personally you would soon find out that this is simply NOT the case with me. I can say with confidence that I do not have an enemy in the world (except for terrorists:eek: ). If you ever meet me I'm sure we would be b.s.'n like a couple of 'ol high-school buddies before too long. I can say this, I'm done apologizing. In fact, this is the last I'm gonna post on this particular thread.
May God bless you all, and may he have you to shoot well, my AzBilliard friends (even the ones with graphite and production cues;) )!!!

I don't think you need to apologize. You just spoke your mind on how you felt. I think it kind of got carried away, and many people took you the wrong way. I am not on either side, but do understand were you are coming from, because there are jerks in all walks of life. I'm sure nobody that replied were the kind of people that you were referring too. They just love their customs!

My goodness. No, he didn't call you an ass. Exactly the opposite. Please read his post again. IMO, it was the clearest and most spot on post on this thread.

I would never call myself a cue snob. Heck, I have what I would consider an expensive custom cue, and my pool partner plays with a 30.00 Players off of eBay. We play pretty much even.

I used to have and play a really nice Taylor acoustic guitar. Yes, the more expensive the guitar, as a rule, the better it generally sounds, because of the quality of the tonewoods and the construction.

Well, it got to where I was playing much better pool than I was the guitar, IMO...and more often, as my passion was greater. The only only really nice thing I had was my guitar. I sold that guitar to get me into a really nice cue. We all deserve to have one nice thing in our lives. For some, it's vehicles, golf clubs (used to sell these....you're number 1 with Roger Dunn:rolleyes: ), guitars, clothes, etc. For me, it was a pool cue.

I have more respect for how a person plays, than what it is they're playing with. Ah yes, there is most certainly eye-candy to be had, but I have seen some nice looking production cues too. You will play well with whatever feels comfortable in the hand. I am just lucky enough that I have a very nice cue, that pleases me. I have crappy clothes, a crappy car....and sometimes, a crappy game...Lol.

Play with whatever you like....just play!

OH HONEY! I have you so beat, 1994 Chrysler Lebaron convertible, new top and paint. 100984 miles. LOL but, she gets me around town. When I go to tournaments either my son drives his 2005 Jeep Liberty (he has a cutom cue too...) or I rent, I just don't want to make payments!
PHM "drives a shiny beater!"

Actually, the proper initialism is OCBD which, of course, stands for Obsessive Cue Buying Disorder!!

*I may not be the first to have it but I'm the first to diagnose it as this specific condition :D :p*

Overall, I've always been pretty happy being me & have never lacked in the self esteem department. Its very possible that there is bit of "child" in me. I'll work on that.
