I played in the 7 and under 9 ball tourney last night and took 2nd ($80.00) It is the first time in a while that I have placed in the money and the first time I have done better than 3rd there. I felt really good all the way down the winners side winning 5-3, 5-1, 5-1, 5-3 and then 5-0 for the hotseat. Then I am not sure if I got tired or lost focus but I lost the finals 3-4 and 2-3. Twice I left him 3 balls out and the other 5 games I lost he never made more than 2 balls. I really beat myself and got some bad rolls. I made a few mistakes that I hadn't made all night. All in all I am very happy with the night - I am just a little tired. Didn't get home unitl after 2AM and was up at 6:30.

LOL. I am rated a 7 out of 10 here in the Arizona Rating System. I feel that I am better than a 7 but I am not consistent enough with it. I can't tell you how many times I have been home and in bed before 10. I have to start winning the tourney's or placing a lot more to get bumped to an 8. Which by the way is what I have been try to do for a long time now. :)

I played it all the way home and even a little bit today. I know the mistakes I made and am going to correct them.

That was the first thing I thought of. Then looked at BVal's avatar and was like..man what a nice kid to put a picture of his parents as his avatar. DOH!!! :D :D

Way to go my young lad. You'll get better and better by playing those safeties over and over. Then, your game will improve. And improve more. Then action will get tougher. And tougher. Then you will give up weight. And more weight. Then you'll get even better. Then, without driving distance, there will be no more action for you. Sooo...............deal the cards, you're on the button, my man.

During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Nike had a huge billboard right next
to one of the stadiums that read:

You didn't win the Silver;
You Lost the Gold.

Dayaammm. Brutal!

Anyways, Congrats on your 2nd place!!

Seriously, great job!

If y'ain't first, yer last!

Where was the tourny at and who beat you? Not sure if I know many 7's from Phoenix...

BTW 7 is the perfect number. At that speed you are allowed to play in, just about, all the tournaments. Once you hit 8 and 9 (especially 10) its all over :( A 7 and under can play in a 5 tournaments a day, 7 days a week, down there. Anybody higher will get just a couple a week... I was rated 8 about 10 years ago and rarely was allowed to play in any events as soon as that happened. I think I play around 10 now and if I moved back to the valley, I'd never be allowed to play anywhere :(

The AZ rating system is terrible unless you are a 7 or under. What you need to do is hide your abilities and remain a 7 so you can play....

The tourney was at Metro Sports Bar and I don't know the last names of the people I beat but I think I remember all of their first names. George 6, Chad 7, Chaz7 , Nathan 6 and Bill 7 then I lost to a Mike S. 6. I have never been one to sandbag or not try my best. I am not sure if I can do that and I know I don't want to do that. There are plenty of tourneys available for 8's as well. I know at Metro Monday is open 9 ball, Tuesday is 8 & Under 8 ball, Wednesday is 9 & under 9 ball, Friday is 8 & Under 8 ball and Saturday is 8 & Under 9 ball. Alexanders also has tourneys Friday through Sunday.
