Took Second in local tourney last night

glad to hear there are more tournaments for 8s and up...

I never liked Alexanders. The owner is great for pool and has alot of events... but its bar tables... Too bad that guy (Ron Mearsel????) does not open a 9' foot room... Imagine how sweet that would be :)

BTW, I meant hide your skill so you can still play, not to "cheat". Nothing is worse than being told to leave cause you honed your skill /sigh

From what I remember, Alaxanders had a monthly tournament that was $500 or $1500 or something... 7's and under  It seamed as though all the big stuff excluded better players which was a real shame since serious pool players strive to get better only to be punished... It was/is a joke...

Doubt you will get raised at Metro. From what I recall, Uncle Jesse never raised anybody. I was there with a friend one night, a couple years ago, and he snapped off the tournament with no problem. He was officially a 5 lol but played around 8. It was 6 and under lol An 8 will destroy a true six... Anyways, the TD, Jazz, watched and did nothing about it and never raised him. I am pretty sure this friend is still a 5 on the books to this day...

Same goes for an 8 down there named Chris Wiseman???? (can't remember his last name) He won the metro tournaments countless times and was never raised to 9...

Anyways, cheers on your 2nd. Tournaments are ALOT of fun and placing makes it so much better.

tourney

Good for you Brady! there is something to the whole "Karma" thing.

If your not sure you can run em out leave em safe and if you can't leave em safe leave em long.

Alexanders now has a 9 goot Diamond table and 7 - 7 foot diamonds from the state chamionship in parker. Alexanders is ok - i really like the new tables and it seems some of the better players play there. I know on Friday night the tourney there is 9 & Under 9 ball and Saturday night it is 8 & Under 9 ball Saturday and Sunday afternoon is open 8 ball I believe. I have never talked to Ron personally but I have heard he is a really nice guy.
Jazz is a nice guy too. I remember a few years ago there were some guys that were high 8's playing as 7's and nothing was happening. Recently lots of people have been getting raised but occasionally you will find the 8 who is a 7 or even the 7-8 who is a 6.

Ron's website is www.azpoolscene.com - there is some cool stuff on there.

Actually...Alexanders no longer has "bar boxes" they have all been replaced with 7' Diamonds.....He also has one of the 9' Diamonds from last years DCC.

Also....they have tournaments for the better rated players...He runs "marathon" tournaments on the 9' Diamond (strictly open events)

10 years ago Arizona was in the tank regarding decent pool tournaments for above average pool players....Thats changed alot in the last year or two.

Go here and you will see how much pool is available in the phoenix metro area

Well done, BVal. I know 1st place would've been sweeter but isn't it nicer to go home late thinking about a few shots you missed rather than being in bed early thinking about all the shots you didn't get chance to play?

Besides, you have that 1st place to look forward to next time! Keep it up!
