I am getting a Gold Crown table the middle of June. I am not sure if it is a I or a II. From what Glen said in my other thread it is a II because it has ashtrays. I am going to be taking it apart and moving it to my house and then have a mechanic set it up for me. My question is what tools other than a strong back and some help do I need to take it apart for shipment? Thank you in advance Dave

Just about any table can be disassembled with a socket set, a few screwdrivers. a set of combo open/box end wrenches, pliers to pull staples, visegrips for broken screws, razor to cut cloth and score slate seams and a claw hammer for when you get frustrated. For antique tables add a forkbit tool and a crescent wrench.

Bring a marker and some masking tape to mark parts and a tape measure to verify that the table is the size advertised.

Supercoupe,

Dartman is right about the open end wrenches. A GCI and probably GCII's have some square head frame bolts that require open end wrenches. Sockets and box ends won't work for those particular bolts. Also, the GC pockets are attached with recessed Allen screws.

Very importantly, the slate should have index pins at the seams. Don't raise the end pieces of slate until they are pulled horizontally away from the center slate so as to clear the pins.
