Top 10 Pool Shots Amateurs Play Wrong … and How to Play Them Right

Here is another shot a lot of players struggle with. Let's say your playing 8 ball. Your straight in up table on the last ball before the 8. 8 ball is on the bottom rail. Some players settle for the bank or draw it straight back and still end up with a bank or extreme cut shot. When they could draw back using proper side spin and end up nearly straight in on the 8. Hope I explained it right.

Sorry for clarification. Your straight in from side to side. Can't draw straight back on the 8. Have to draw back into the side rail and spin down table.

I'm a little burned out from working hard on these videos the last few weeks, but if anybody has any ideas for additional "Top 10" instructional pool videos that would be interesting to most players (at any level), I'm all ears.

Thanks,

Thanks for posting
You're welcome. I really enjoyed doing these Top 10 videos, and they were excellent practice. They forced me to work on everything important, and my game feels a little sharper as a result.

Dave

Well, I already thought of 2 more possible Top 10 videos:

Top 10 Sidespin Shots Every Pool Player Must Master

Top 10 Safeties Every Pool Player Must Know

Any ideas for what to include in each?

Any ideas for other possible videos?

And which of these new videos would you think might be the most interesting or helpful?

Thanks,
Dave

Would love to see video on developing cue action at different speeds.

Also Push Out options.

And Pattern play in the different games (9/10 Ball, 8 Ball, One Pocket and Straight Pool). When pros do this they don't take into account (in my opinion) the shot making/stroking of the armature player.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. Do you simply mean how to stroke differently for shots of different speeds?

Also Push Out options.
We cover this in detail in Section 2 of VENT-I, but I'll consider it for a possible future Top 10 video.

Bob Jewett and I cover pattern play in excruciating detail in VENT (for 9-ball and 10-ball) and in VEEB (for 8-ball), but maybe Top 10 videos would be good here also.

Thank you for the suggestions,
Dave

Very good video. I forwarded the link to my league team. Even if we know most of it already, it is good to review the basics occasionally to keep those concepts in the front of our considerations. Thanks for your continued effort.

Thank you ... and you're welcome. I hope my recent videos help your team play better. I'm certainly hoping they will help certain individuals on my team. :grin-square:
