Ok, let's try something new, lol....

I'm sure it's been asked many times, but I'm really bored.

Name your top 5 cue makers of all time as far as craftsmanship, and playability. These need to be cues from makers you have actually owned/own, and played. They do not need to be in order from favorite unless you choose. If you do list them in order please let us know that you did. Remember, Custom Makers Only.... No production cues.

Mine are NOT necessarily in order in order.

1) Michael Webb
2) Kieth Josey
3) David Kersenbrock
4) Joe Gold
5) Paul Mottey

Pretty much I have what I consider the top 2-3.

In order

1) Bill Schick
2.) Gus
3.) Bushka

Others I have owned that are top notched.

Ginacue (although the inlayed points are a turn off for me)
James White (I like his stuff even more than Mottey)

I've always wanted to try one from James White, but it hasn't happened, and at this stage of my life I doubt it ever will. Having said that, I'm very content with what I have.

If you are saying best playing, i would not have a clue, other than to vote for myself. As far as a0rtistic design in no particular order,
Thomas Wayne
Paul Drexler
Pete Tonkin
Joe Pechauer
Black Boar.
Would be my five top picks without really thinking about it.
Jacoby
GinaCue
Manzino
Meucci
McDermott
All could be contenders also.

Yes, it would be best playing, and craftsmanship. Nothing at all to do with artistic design.

I've only tried many cuemakers cues, never owned any really except a Lomax jumper lol. The best hitting so far out of what I've tried were a Scruggs and Diveney sneaky pete.

I’ve played with a few nice cues. I think they all played very well. One cue stood out above the rest: a Ginacue Domino.

I’d love to add a Joss West to the stable.

Got a Bluegrass on the way.

I alternate between the Gina and a simple four point Tascarella. I’ve been putting more mileage on the Tascarella out of fear of damaging the Gina. Ernie dated it to 65-68 and it’s in original condition except for the tips. I bc worry about the ivory ferrules calling it quits after 50-60 years.

I also have an old Schon STL 4 that has a fantastic hit. Extremely stiff though.

hmmm, right about now, I know Ernie is the best of the lot.

I have not played with one but I have been highly impressed with what I have seen coming out of Eddie Cohen's shop.

I've played with many custom cues over the years. For the combination of playability and craftsmanship my favorites are Paul Mottey and James White.

Playability 1st to last: Ariel Carmeli, Bill Schick, Richard Hsu, Dave Kikel, Richard Black(ivory joint). Still want to try Ron Haley, Pete Tonkin, DPK. But no one will sell me 1 for super duper cheap.......meanies! 😉

Bert Schrager, Tim Padgett, played with both Tim’s sneakies were the bomb to play with as well as the jump cues he made would love to get my hands on one of Tim’s if he started making cues again!

Quality of there work is one thing. Trying to do business with them is another thing. I turned to Mezz after attempting to communicate with some of these yahoos.
