Top 5 players in TN?

Stronger than shortstop?

For residents and people familiar with the state, who do you think the strongest players are? Just curious.

> I live in Union City, but have been in probably every known pool room in Tennessee, except Sevierville, and as far as I know,Jonathan Hennessee is the best player that actually lives in-state. Shannon Daulton lived here for a while in 2 different stretches. Bobby Pickle would also be a serious consideration. Same with Billy Young, and about 10 others. Pinning them down to no more than 5 would be tough. But then again,I've been going to a room in Akron periodically when in town to visit family, and seen 30 locals in the room at one time that played that speed or better. Tommy D.

I grew up in Antioch and ran around Snooker's and out to JOB's as well as the occasional Gameworld/Gameland visits. The names I remember in no particular order:

Brian Bailey (mainly played at Snookers)
Opie (real name was brian)
Bobby Pickle
Billy Young
Hennessee
Randy (little short bald guy..odd style of play but hit them GOOD)
Ugly Dave
Plus a lot of good players who stayed at JOBs.
Kale (i think...he was a vietnamese guy who ran with a big crew and played good..played a lot at Snookers. He couldn't beat Brian, but nobody else would play him -- most of the time)

There is a guy in Tullahoma by the name of Randy Vaughn. He's about 6 feet tall and weighs about 250. I'd say he's about 25 or 30 years old. He doesn't play anymore, but I guarantee he should be on the list. I'm sure there are several people here that know him. He has two brothers that are strong players also, but are no where near his speed.

I grew up with Hennessee by the way. His game has come a long way. He gave me the 7-ball back in about 1992 or so in a race to seven for 200.00 He beat me easily. His game at that time was A level at best.

Your right on with that, Vaughn in my opinion played better than hennessee. I heard he no longer plays because he runs the family's logging business. Hell of a player.

my top 5 in no particular order

Bobby Pickle.
Jimmy Reid.
John Hennessee
Randy Vaughn
Billy Young

I expect great things from Nick Hickerson, Blake Todd, Nick Vita... But tennessee is full of great players hard to just name 5

I don't know. He was young. I don't even know if he was driving or not. I'm guessing on the year. I played pretty heavy from 1990 until about 1996. I'm just gonna take a guess and say that he was 17-19.

Nick is not top 5...yet...but he is making waves from what I read.
I nominate Hal!
Dude I'm a B player at best. More like a C on those Diamonds at the DCC. I agree with 5ballCharlie's list.

Is Hennesse the same as Jonathan Pinegar. At the recent SMS a player everyone was calling Jonathan Hennesse from Tennesse...was actually playing under the name Jonathan Pinegar. When I asked the TD he said that was indeed him and he was playing under his real name...Pinegar.
The AZ player finder has them both listed with different results...but the pics of Hennesse are indeed the player I saw as Pinegar.
Help anyone...

Nick hickerson came in 2nd place. Someone out of nashville won I think. I dont know his name though. Pickle finished I believe in the top 16. I played some guy some 9 ball and did well.

Speaking of pickle and hennessee, does anyone remember when hennesse kept mouthing pickle and bobby told him to knock it off. Hennessee kept at it and bobby just walked over and smaked him!!! Hahaha priceless.

I heard that Bobby Pickle is currently having some serious health issues (say a prayer for him) so he may not be playing at this time. If anyone has more info than me...

Billy Young & I won a bit of cash at Mother's slaying the local talent here several years ago. I still regret making a horrible mistake with him. I had a very nice no point Wes Hunter with a rare piece of figured purpleheart. Billy loved the cue, he begged & begged for the cue. Finally he offered in an even trade his plain Birdseye, early model, 3 shaft, Southwest. The Southwest had more birdseye in it than any cue I've ever seen...a truly once in a lifetime piece of wood. I declined to trade simply because the Hunter was brand new and his SW was a bit used with some character marks. I had paid $500 for the Hunter. Really stumped my toe there. If anyone can put me in touch with Billy, pm me. He's so unknown here...we may be able to make a bit of change again.
