OK, we have the best money players so why not this. Who are the best "scores" in North America, eg players that have the cash, play big, and are very beatable by top players?

Harry P is mentioned in Playing off the Rail, and I've heard a guy called "Bubba?" mentioned in Florida? Can anyone share any info/stories?

Cheers

Unless you believe the BS Fats used to spew, probably the biggest scores were up in Detroit, circa 60's & 70's when Cornbread Red, Clem Metz, Detroit Whitey and a bunch of other top money players matched up with some millionaire stakehorses, some of them mobbed up! There was a lot of money changed hands in Detroit!

just more hot air!

don't know if this is current enough for you,but weenie beenie was beat out of about 250,000 and a brand new lincon continental around 1985 or 86,on a side note i had just moved back to dayton from myrtle beach where this happened and mentioned weenie beenie at airway billiards when rick garrison walked in,he heard beenies name and wanted to go to myrtle beach with me to play beenie,i couldn't go but told him where to find him at gene's pool room in m.b.,he went with joe brown and ended up stuck 1200 in a one pocket game with beenie, sherm might remember this, hey sherm have you heard from rickey?if you talk to him have him call art or bill in dayton.

Myrtle Beach, geeze, thats a lot of cash. Funny in 94/95 I spent a gap year in the states. Spent a summer in Mrytle beach, a few months in vegas and Hollywood and then 6 months in NYC. I played a hell of a lot better then but sadly I only had eyes for partying. I never even saw a pool hall in Mrytle Beach :(

nostroke, probably but you never know :-)

hey vb, how's the beach!? ;-)
My banks and 1pocket suck (yes like the hoover!), btw not asking for me, I'm just curious

:D

Are you a fisherman by any chance? Your sure seem keen on finding out where the fish are biting.

> There was a story told to me by Grady about a score that went down at the Detroit Rec back in the 70's. Paul Brucelove, commonly but not derogatorily known as "Jew" Paul, had lost like 150k to one player, and proclaimed to the room that he would bet 10k that he never hit another ball. The very next night, the guy that beat him the night before was shocked when Paul came in,threw him a 10k stack, and said he was ready to play, and lost another 250k. Tommy D.

Wasn't there something about a huge score in Ohio a few years back. Something about a million air that lost everything to a group of hustlers and somehow he managed to get it back through the courts?
