Hey Girl,

If I did the numbers correctly your showing at the Delta has just moved you into the top twenty. With 345 WPBA points that puts you at #20.

Don't let up now,

Jake

Hey Jake,

You are so close. She is indeed at #20, but with 340 WPBA points....the same as Tiffany Nelson.....so they are actually tied. But, in the case of ties, the higher ranking goes to the person who has made more $$, and I believe that is Sarah, so she gets the #20 ranking.

Also, she is pretty good shape because the next 3 tournaments she will be losing are all low finishes (she drops off 1 tournament for each new tournament she plays in....the WPBA keeps a 10 tournament total in order to determine ranking). For example, at the next tournament, Sarah is dropping a 33-48th place finish, which is worth 20 points. If she finishes 13th-16th, which is worth 40 points, she will have gained 20 points, and her total will be 360....which is within Top 16 striking distance.

Sarah will be Top 16 within the next 2 tournaments for sure. It's unavoidable! The only question is....can I do well enough at the next event in order to stay ahead of her??? LOL

Go get em Sarah....you know I'm rooting for you!

Melissa

Hey Mellisa, It rests in yours, and Sarah's hands now, and the luck of the draw. With good draws, and playing like you guys know you should, and can, then moving up is in your future. I see you have some low scores coming up that I am sure you will improve on. Three 25's and a 15.

I was looking at the WPBA standings as posted by AZBilliards. I can't find the standings at the WPBA site.

But AZB showed Sarah at 265 before Delta where she got 80 points and the score that dropped out was a DNP. That's where I got the 345.

But I don't know how current that list is. And if you are right, and I am sure you are, then I must be looking at an older WPBA points list.

Maybe in the next tournament the two of you will be in the finals. That would be great.

Hey Jake,

The WPBA takes a week or two to update their website....so look for it soon. I keep a spreadsheet with everyones' points, so that I can know as soon as I get home how the standings changed. Kind of silly of me I know, but I can't stand waiting a week or two to see if I am going to move up or down...LOL.

At the end of 2003, Sarah had 325 ranking points, and she dropped a 7-8 place finish, which is 65 points, but gained a 5-6 place, which is worth 80, so essentially, she gained 15 points, which brings her total to 340.

As far as me and Sarah in the finals.....well, that would be great! And if she beat me, I would pick her tiny little body up and carry her around the ring!

Thanks for the votes of confidence....I think both Sarah and I are looking at a great year!

Melissa

Hey Jake.

You are right it is up to Melissa and I what happens. We are both right there. Melissa is close to the top 10 and I am close to the top 16. I hope we both continue to move up.

Melissa, thank you for explaining everything and for knowing how I stand. I appreciate it. We both have a great chance with all of those bad finishes falling off. I hope we meet in the finals one of these days. No matter who wins it will be a great thing.

It kind of stinks that I finish the best and only gain 15 points. On the bright side though, I could have lost alot of points.

Melissa and Jake thank you both. Melissa you know I am there rooting you on too. Afterall, you were the first person on the pro tour to talk to me and encourage me. For that, I will always owe you.

Sarah

Thanks for the info,

It looks like Mike is three tournaments behind on his WPBA points list.

But on the bright side Sarah overcame her 65 point game that dropped off and improved on that. And now you both have a few low scores that will be dropping off that you can improve on.

It sure does look easy on paper - doesn't it?

It is surprising how lucky you can get if you put in a lot of hard work.

Puh-leeeze! You don't owe me nothin girl! I am totally happy that we have become friends. It is nice to know that we can be friends and not let the competition interfere or professional jealousy come into play (although I may have to "Tonya Harding" you the next time we end up playing each other.....I am not looking forward to getting beat by you!).

BTW, I can't wait until San Diego. I am going to take you to Dave and Busters now that you are 21! It's an arcade-type playground for adults.....so much fun!!!

Talk to you soon!

I look forward to seeing this match, in the not too distant future. :D

Thank you Jake and Rich.

Jake I wish things were as easy as they look on paper! And yes, there seems to be alot of luck when hard work is put in.

Rich I hope that match happens soon as well.

Melissa I remember last time we played and I don't think there is any reason for you to pull a Tonya Harding on me. If anyone has the right to do that it would be me :)

Okay, so here are the official rankings, copied from the WPBA website. As you can see, there are ties all over the place, but they give the higher ranking to the player who has made more money. Using the example below, I made $25 more than Belinda, so the higher ranking goes to me...etc. Hope this better details what I tried to explain earlier...

15 Melissa Herndon 365 $13000
16 Belinda Campos Calhoun 365 $12975
17 Ga Young Kim 355 $15900
18 Loree Jon Jones 355 $14900
19 Melissa Little 355 $13675
20 Tiffany Nelson 340 $12825
21 Sarah Rousey 340 $12265

BTW, even though she is #21, I maintain my position that Sarah will be top 16 by Peoria....which will be nice for her to debut her Top 16 ranking in front of her home crowd!

Melissa

Thank you Melissa. I'm glad you keep track of everything. I was wondering where I would end up. It kind of adds to the bittersweet feeling of 5th place. My best finish yet and I only gain 15 points and don't move up. Oh well, I guess I will have to do it again next tournament.

Melissa, thank you for your confidence in my game. And congrats on moving up a spot. Just 5 spots to go until the top 10!
