Had my right knee totally replaced yesterday at 67. Barely any pain yesterday, was going to message my doctor and ask him if he even
did the operation,😂 today, all hell broke loose. Major pain, took my first of 35 vicadin around 4 pm but now its wearing off, will have to
take another soon.

Was thinking i might practice my bank shots soon, just sit in my roller chair, and move myself around the table.

Anyone have a time table on when the pain stops? I wanna shoot some pool.

You’re bionic now, badass! Relax and rest for a couple few, so you can get after it with a renewed vigor and ultimate focus.

At 25 I decided to jump off the tracks of a D9 Bulldozer I had been operating, the staircase was too slow. I sprained and broke my ankle, along with torn ligaments. I suffered with pain and a bad limp for 20 years and then had my ankle fused.
The surgeon spent 9 hours scraping arthritis from all 14 bones and cut my Fibula, it is of no use on a fusion. I was issued a Pain ball full of the good stuff and I was pain free for two days and then it quit working.
I will never forget how much my ankle hurt for the next three weeks. I deal with pain very well but this was another level.
I was able to play pool after 60 days and now its just a distant memory. Hang in there.

Good luck on the heal up and do the PT even when it's annoying.

Might be a good time to get a new pool book to study. Get the highlighters out so you have a list of stuff to practice stuff when you get back to the table.

Ponder the old parable about two men going out into the woods to fell trees. Man one cuts all day from sun up to sun down. Man two takes a break every hour. At the end of the day, man two has cut much more wood. The reason... when he was taking all those breaks he sharpened his saw. :)

Getting back to the table after the left turning car launched me off my motorcycle was therapeutic for me. Kept my mind off the discomfort. Getting away from the pain pills was a top priority for me.
With my left arm in a sling and wearing a neck collar made one handed practice a starting point. It was a beneficial therapeutic exercise for me. Good luck with your recovery.

Vicodin does not make the pain go away, it puts you in a mood where you don't care that the pain is there.
It also causes constipation....

The wife had a knee done and did her own exercises etc and was out and about in no time. She had the 2nd knee done and it definately took alot longer to recover than the 1st one. She gets pain in it and said she wishes she hadn't done it. She manages a 5km walk and a 10km bike ride every day even with the pain

I’ve known two men in my life that had the full knee replacement surgery. Once most of the healing was over, both of them were very pleased with their results.

VERY pleased.

Careful using that Vicodin. Those opium derivatives are as addictive as you’ve heard.

Vicodin withdrawal can be intense and painful.

Hopefully you’re feeling better real soon and moving better than you have been in a long while!

Good luck my man!

Speedy recovery!

I’m not sure where or how i got my thinking that i would walk right thru this. I Have been active my whole life, even now at 67 very active. I was thinking i was going to waltz right thru this rehab. NOPE. This is going to take a while i can tell. And yes i know that the vicodin is habit forming, bad for you, etc, but i have to have some type of pain control to get thru the day. Thanks for all the well wishes AZBILLIARDS. 👍

Meh...

Toughen up, rub some dirt on it, and go play pool! 😁

JK. Take your time and heal properly. You'll be back in no time. 👍

The pain is all from surgery trauma. The thing that caused your chronic pain(bone on bone arthritic joint) has been removed. Almost 100% of the patients I saw on their 10 day follow up were pissed that they didn't have it done 5 years earlier.

Good luck on your healing and you'll be hitting them straight in no time!
