Tournament Felt

I'm getting a 8 ft Brunswick home table, 3/4 slate so no wood backer. Would like suggestions for cheaper tournament felt, and a good how to page for installation. I helped the guy on my last table do the rails and he did the table, but as is common I think, around the pockets have come off. All the videos and how to pages have all had wood to staple the felt to. I was looking at championship felt , but also seen worsted felt on ebay. What type would be best. Any help would be great. I know the guy used wax to fill the seams on my other table , which I can feel both seams now. Is it possible to put wood under the slate to make it wood backed? Thanks Mike

any help here , i would think there would be somebody on here that know how to put a table together

There might be a couple. Many of us do this for a living though, so although the information is pretty much all here, DIYers might have to do the searching themselves too. For worsted cloth, Simonis or Championship are going to be the best. Simonis also sells very good DVDs on how to cover slate and rails.
