Tournament from Hell Experiences-Ever had one

That is when the bell rings and round one begins!

How about, you drive from Colorado Springs to Lubbock TX you call the tournament director when you leave and when your a few hrs out to confirm your spots....you get there after a 600 mile drive and this TD person forfeits your first match and your buddies too. God I didn't even want to remember that incident, but I had so much fun with I.M. it made me think of just the opposite, kinda like pool, if I can't go this way, then lets try another route.

The pits in Pittsburgh

New room..Big G tables....early 90's
Didn't bother warming up..liked to get in stroke under fire.
So...lost the lag,my opponent broke dry...left whitey near the kitchen..
about 8 in. off rail....the 1-ball was middle of the table about 6 in. above
the racking area.
..decided to play the 1-ball in the far right corner and draw whitey one
rail for the 2-ball into the same pocket.
..the 1-ball hit the wall on the right
..the cue ball hit a spectator on the left

Seems the 1-ball had been wedged against the edge of the end slate.
The middle slate had sunk about a 16th of an inch.
...told the TD if I'd known the conditions I would have brought a caddie.

Got food poisoning at the Derby last year and had to withdraw after two rounds of the 9-ball event. Wouldn't have been so bad if I had lost my 2nd round match and was debating whether to buy back, but I hadn't lost yet despite the fact that I was (quite literally, I'm sure) turning green. Spent my last two days at the Derby in bed. :frown:

I do have a handicap story to rival most, but I wouldn't call it a horrible tournament experience. In fact I had a real good time at the tourney, but the handicap thing was a bit hard to stomach. I was spotting 7 games on the wire (10-3 race), and with the score at 7-0 (and me saying "hooray, now it's an even race!") I found out I was being raised to a 12 and had to win 5 more games instead of 3 to close out the match.

aggrevating

I drove between 2-3 hours to a handicap bar box tourney in SC. When I get there the tables play horrible and everyone of them plays nothing like you'd expect. My handicap gets raised from what I normally am to give some of the weaker players a chance. Room has I believe 8 tables and over 80 people show up to play in the tourney and to make it worse this room allowed smoking. It was the crowdest most miserable tournament experience I've ever had but the only good side was my girlfriend went with me and she knocked off an A player in the tourney.....

Lesson learned
