Piglets Need To Eat Too.

you nit lunch buckets that like that 25% pay out need to stay out the way and sit the stands. If you pay anymore than 10% of the field you cant afford to travel to go to any of them.

Your attitude in this forum lacks much to be desired. We welcome you to the forum but please go back and read the rules that this forum is governed by. We don't mind controversial discussion. Just do it in a polite manner so that you can receive the same in kind.

Your "thinking" is precisely the type of "thinking" that sees many tournaments here today and gone tomorrow.

Like others blinded by their greed or ignorance, you hold onto the notion that a bigger piece of a smaller and shrinking pie is better.

You fail to understand that in the long run, it is better for the BEST PLAYERS & ALL PLAYERS, that more players eagerly participate in supporting the tournaments.

When the same hogs win tournaments month after month and the majority of the tournament money is doled out to just a few of the best players, the lesser players (of talent) who actually like to have a turn at the trough finally decide that they will just avoid the trough altogether because the big hogs are simply too greedy.

I don't know if people like you will ever realize that a smaller piece of a larger pie is a good thing (for the best players) or that more pieces of more pies is a good thing.

You have to let the little piglets eat at the trough once in a while or they get skinny and die.

I know that poolroom owners add money to tournaments.... I also know that a lot of tours pocket some money for there efforts.. But alot take to much... Then they raffle off cues and pocket that money....

Fantasy--- Lets say Rat Cues Sponsors a tour... They will give product to the tour to sell, raffle, give away or what have you... FREE FREE Stuff giving to tour...

So, in retrospect,,,, Take the FREE cue, raffle it off ,then add the take from the raffle back into the tournament, and not back in TD's pocket..

JUST A THOUGHT

Could make for better payouts... I know for a fact raffles generate $500 to $1000 in certain areas..

In some cases, the TD takes the cue raffle money and replaces the add on money he pulled out of his pocket and still takes the loss. He then gets very upset when people no knowing accuse him of pocketing players money without knowing what they are talking about. But it's always best not to even argue the point.

No, a very healthy entry tournament fee is what I suggest.

25% of the field gets paid. The money that is paid out needs to be spread around more generously with the elite getting less than what is generally doled out.

In a 64 person field, I suggest 16 people be paid in the following percentages for each place:
25%, 15%, 10%, 8%, 6,%,6%, 5%, 5%, 3%, 3%, 3%, 3%, 2%, 2%, 2%, 2%.

The calcutta can go to hell for all I care, especially if it only pays a select few. Oh, wait a minute, in some places it already has. ;)

Tons of added money? No, that seems a little much.

Your formula is pretty close to the on we have used for years and years.

Tournament directors should charge enough green fee to make their effort worthwhile. Anyone who begrudges TDs the money they make should try it themselves. Go through a 5 or 6 year drought with no decent tournaments around. I know Lewis and Paul are not getting rich running the Fast Eddies tournaments. I speak for a lot of players who are greatful to have a steady diet of well run tournaments.

I think a point system that generates a Leader Board, with cash prizes, is a good incentive. I used to run a city championship here in San Francisco, and the top players on the Leader Board got free entry. I also award $200 first and $100 second in the rooms that use my NPL handicapping system, and I compile each room's Leader Board statistics.
