So I am staying in NJ for work and was.wanting some feedback on where to play and if any weekly tournaments were held? Sandcastle Billiards is about 15-20 min from where I am staying. But wondering if there are any other NJ spots to try or that have tournaments. I will be here for a bit.

I visited Hoboken Billiards, its walking from PATH train and its not just a billiard room. Its an entertainment area for families. Its a nice area to shop and walk around. They are attracting people to the area to raise families.

Call and ask, taxi service or car shuttle is very common too. If you need a helo, then give me a call.

One of the Euro champs is in the area willing to travel, they use facebook.

FB really is better for finding interesting players to match up with. They are here for 3-4 more days.

Do you want the players name? Moritz Neuhausen and Bobby Hilton is promoting him.

LoL...yeah, I am a 575 rated player. He is way above my speed and I am not looking for action. I don't mind playing tournaments for the competition...and keep my donations limited to tournament.play. :)

The conversion rate for a lesson for a foreign player right now is huge. $100 USD is like buying a Patriot, when they convert to whatever part of NATO Europe they are in. Just pay for the lesson, they can play and make it fun.

Players from war zones know how to relax. They are not here to invade, just play pool and make some money. When they are here, they are here for their country and their people. Do you want them to remember Americans supported us?

I went there twice last time I was in Teterboro. They have a few Diamond tables, mostly GC with one of them with 3 3/4 cornerso_O
They have some golf clubs if you want to use their simulator. Nice area with a park and tennis courts.

I haven't lived in Jersey for over 5 years but I do remember Elite Billiards in Edison having a good weekly 9 ball tournament.

NJ has some good pool halls. How far are you willing to drive for weekday tournament?

no tournaments at elite. Wednesday at players, eatontown, just off exit 105 on the parkway. Handicapped. Usually a few thousand in calcutter money. On the weekends at elite a group of guys play. a nice group of c players. no money just fun competition. Clean well maintained place. $20 play from 11 to 6.

NJ and NY have multiple colleges in the area. If any alums want to raise money and host an event and invite tri-state colleges to compete at a pool room preferable near Moynihan station, Harlem Station or Barclays Arena, then undergrads and grads can compete and travel using OMNY pass.

If there was a college focused or club focused tournament then it should be in Flushing or Brighton beach. Both areas have high needs and have been underserved for decades. Brighton beach is on the decline due to corruption and lack of investors. Flushing is ready for new family residents. If players in those areas are champions, then that is the purpose of location choice, they need to produce champions.

I worked at five colleges in the area and of the 5, 3 had pool tables inside of them or near by, though underused and without a real house pro holding the table down, guidance to the pool room is limited. There are no billiard deserts in NYC, some in NJ due to driving needs.

Bring back youth pool in the tri state area. If anyone needs organizational level support I am affiliated to NJCAA. I think Frankie Hernandez had his kid play and sing. Then there were some other players who had their kids run other businesses.

Tell them to go to college, start a club, then bring players to the room for competition or for fun. Very few NJCAA sports events have players meetings, however the funding is always consistent. Youth pool should be about this is American pool, American billiard rooms and American style tournaments with Billiard Player management or rules, points list and discussion of conditions of the table, ....

Stay away from Players. I've been there a few times in the last year and they wanted to cut off my time for league night. A DAMN CASH PAYING PLAYER and they want to take me off the clock for league night.

I know this was from a year ago, but we weren't consistently getting turnout then - but we are now up to about six months running weekly tournaments on Sunday here in Hoboken, plus 2X's a month on Saturday (and that's usually a chip tournament). Anyone is welcome to join. More information is available at www.hobokenbilliards.com.
