Is anybody keeping track of $$ for the repair work you do... I've been keeping a journal but is kinda hard to keep up with. I was thinking of using an Excel spreadsheet but wanted to see if anyone had a better idea.

Thanks,

TC

Access

You could build a little microsoft access form and database. If you have microsoft office you will have access probably. It's perfect for this type of thing and it will allow you to query your data or create reports with totals and stuff on it.

Are you keeping track of this, to report it as taxable income or just curious as to how much work, you are actually doing?...JER

Sorry, the answer could effect the advise I might have. I am really old school...I still have receipt pads, with carbon copies for all sales. As for expenses, I keep track of my inventory via this computer...JER

I bought some small business software at wal-mart for about 90 bucks. It tracks all money coming and going. At the end of the year, you hit a button and it creates an earnings to loss report. My tax man still has to figure vehicle milage and machine depreciations.

I have finally started this year to keep a journal of repairs and any building of shafts, etc. The reason? To see how much I did, and to show my girlfriend that taking over her garage, investing a few thousand already, and more to come, will eventually all pay for it's self, and we'll all live happily ever after :D

I use several Excell spreadsheets. I have one for each room I do the repairs in, and another for tournaments I set up at. I track: Date received, date delivered, customer name, work done, type of cue the work was done on, customer cost, my cut, room's cut, was I paid, was room paid, and any comments.

This is for my personal information only. I don't share it with anyone. I can sort in Excell by any of these fields.

Why don't you just file your receipts?
