Trade places with a pro?

...if you look at the number one pool players income from pool last year, it is right around poverty level...

So true, who could live off $131k/ yr?!

Holy Crap, that is a long post (that's what she said,LOL)!

I bet you probably meant to say top woman...she's in the prior list, hardly what I'd consider "poverty".

i must say that even with all the crap i have been handed in the past 4 years having cancer, broke legs, and finally permanent lung damage i can say i would not trade my life with anyone....but there are few piece of several players games i would like to have.....but i would not give up what valuable lessons i have learned in these last four years....so please dont always thing the grass is greener on the other side.......juston coleman

Juston, After reading several of your posts, I have come to the conclusion that you've got heart. I don't know how well you play pool, but you show the heart of a champion. Keep hanging in there.

As far as this thread goes, if I had to give up my family to trade places with someone, I know George Breedlove lives a pretty good lifestyle. Not just because of Jeanette, but because he has the drive to work and the talent to be top 10 if he wanted to. Sam

No kidding aside, I'd like to be Efren when he was in his early 20's.
Must be nice to walk to ANY pool hall and feel you could kick anyone's jazz.

Apparently you've never heard of that other sport that women play...it's called "shopping".

Someone's up to par with the rest of the crowd!

Seriously though, the site I saw must not have been a cummulative total of ALL winning earned. The top $$ I saw was around 39K!! Ooops! I guess my sorces mislead me...

Okay, so what I should have said, is you'd have to be in the top 6 or 7...possibly 8 and 9, to live the way most people dream of!!

Firstly, no pro could have my dog
So, if I can keep the dog, my charm, my good looks, etc. and just trade careers?
Of course I would trade!
Who's "game" would I want? Parica's

With your good looks and Parica's game you should be able to attract several wealthy sponsors, win prize money and live your own good life shooting pool. Jose on the other hand seems not to be well sponsored or wealthy.

Sounds good but does this include the cost of travel, hotel fees, tournament entry fees and the lessons and coaches many have to keep improving their game?

Laura

Even though snooker tournaments have somewhat less money on offer because of lack of tobacco sponsorships, I's still way way above that of pool.

I'd trade places with either Mark Williams or Paul Hunter. They play great game, drive supercars, have lots of cash and are very famous in their circle. Also, with cash and fame come great looking chicks that you can change at will! And most importantly, they're about my age!

As a woman, you also have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get into the pro events, which to me is kind of silly. .
Laura

That's funny. As a white girl, I can't jump. I have never hooped anything. I just pocket balls. No hoops - you just have to want to win and be willing to put in the time required to play at that level.

Would you rather have quality play or quantity play. If you earn your way into the pro's then you have proven that you belong. If they just let everyone in then you would have spectators being upset because the paid money to see some people who are beginners !! I will not say bad players because there are none. Some of us are just more experienced at the game !!

Kind of made me think of the lions at the circus jumping through hoops. If you are comparing us to Lions then that is great - come to think of it !!

Glad you have other hobbies.

Lisa,

I'm sure bluewolf did not mean to demean you lady pros who have put in the time, effort, and money to get to the level where you are. She perhaps did not express her thoughts in the manner in which she meant. She does not have a malicious bone in her body I am quite sure.

See you in Peoria, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Wally,

If I came across as to be offended to that - I was not. I just thought it was a little funny to say that we have to jump through hoops. I know what she meant. Heck, I have felt like a circus animal performer for years for this sport - doesn't hurt my feelings. Love the game !!!

By the way, I am not a Pro. That is Semi-Pro :p . Just don't want to be called something that I haven't earned the right to. Maybe after the Vegas stop, I can quit correcting everyone every time they call me a professional. One more pro point for me. Hoping to get it over with in Vegas but if not then in Peoria.

Take care & Have a great Easter Weekend !!!

Lisa

P. S. All women have malicious bones in our bodies. Some just hide it better than others !! LOL

Lisa,
I saw your energy at Viejas and you went deep into the tourney with skill and purpose. Your performance should launch you to move up in the ranks. I hope that you have the sponsorship that you deserve to send you to all of the events that will further your penetration into the tour. What I saw was what it takes for you to exceed everyones expectation and make the money. I wish you good roles and breaks = money.

Thank you soooo much for your nice comments. You are right though. After I lost my first match, I had to have a little talk to myself and I guess it worked, I did step up and finally got focused. I have been working on slowing down (which is tough for me, fast player) and the mental side. Right now it is kind of messing me up and helping me all at the same time. Once I develop it in my game as an automatic habit I believe I will start showing in most tournaments. As far as the sponsorship thing, I have a billiard supply here that helps me a little but I am footing the bill for myself. I would love to find a sponsorship not just for the financial help but just to have someone to work with and to grow along with me on the tour.

Once again, Thank you soooo much for you nice comments. Hopefully, I can continue to do well.

Sincerely

Lisa

Lisa,

Play your own game and give them hell!
