I've been thinking about having a snooker cue shaft made for one of my lighter cues rather than getting a whole new snooker cue. Has anyone done this? Were you satisfied with the results? Is there anyone you'd recommend to do this? Your thoughts are much appreciated.

I have to say I was slightly disappointed to have opened this thread and not find a cue covered in Autobots and Decepticons :D

I am far from a snooker player. But I have a friend that had this done. You are considering a solid maple shaft, rihgt? My friend seemed to have no problems but if it was me personally, I would opt to buy a new shaft specific to your snooker cue.

Too much tv

Man, you guys watch entirely too much. This is a real question. A snooker cue is typically lighter with a 9.5 mm tip. But then, you guys already knew that. Live long and prosper.

I wonder about an OB-2 blank?

I doubt the tip would come all the way down to 9.5 but I wonder if the OB-2 shaft blank might be a good candidate to make a snooker shaft from? I think the tip is at 11.3 originally in the standard model. You might give them a call.

I have played a lot of snooker with a pool cue and a lot of pool with a snooker cue, there isn't anything magically different about either one. The bigger tip on a pool cue is often coupled to lesser spine so it may not be as stiff in actual play as a snooker cue. If you have a cue butt you like I'd think it would be just fine to couple with a shaft designed for snooker. There is a considerable built in comfort factor staying with a component you are familiar with. A full custom shaft could have a parabolic section or even a little weight added to keep the balance point the same using the cue for pool or snooker.
