Just got back into pool about 3 years ago after a 20 year hiatus, when the condo I purchased had a finished basement with an 8-foot Brunswick (named Cimarron on bottom?, model #: QH from the early 90s. It needed some work, so purchased new rails and Simonis 860HR cloth that was installed earlier this year, and it plays sooo much better.
I definitely want a 9-footer, but realized it wouldn't make sense to replace this one at this point, as I don't plan on living in this location for more than another year. Although I enjoy playing on and feel so 'dialed into' my table, the size feels a bit cramped--granted, lately I've been playing "12-ball" against myself (setup a regular 10-ball rack and break, then will put the 11 & 12 balls in random spots on the table...also, any balls made on the break are put back onto the table in random/open spots as well). This is just to make it more difficult to play with more object ball traffic in the way. I'm sure doing drills would be better to learn, but I have zero enthusiasm for most of them.
So outside of the obvious longer shot possibilities, is there anything else that would make the transition to a larger table any harder? From a video I saw in the Diamond factory, I thought I heard them say they use different rail rubber on their 9-footers than they do on the 8-ft and bar boxes...not sure if this would be a major or minor adjustment issue?
Although I registered for this forum a while back, it would not let me post anything due to some error. Googled and found a thread by K2 Kraze where his friend was having the same problem and he provided the link for admins contact info...thanks Mike for fixing this! This is my first thread/post, but I have many opinions and insights that I'd like to share, so I look forward to getting to know more of you and share my experiences.
