With the X’s being differently shaped, I do not think these were made by a cue maker. I would hope that a cue maker would be more precise in his work to be proud of.
 
Interesting set- actual ivory or micarta inlay would make them definitely worth a refinish and perhaps nice complement to an appropriate cue.
 
Darn right it is , I feel jp's are cheap insurance for you're pool cue , in other words you put your cue or cues in a nice case to protect it or them why not take it a step further .
 
When I first seen joint protectors was in the early 1990's when I got a McDermott pool cue a friend at the time suggested that I get some joint protectors for the above mentioned reasons , I'm glad I did , in all honesty I don't have them for all my pool cues but I do for those I use the most .
