Jersey City does not have one decent pool room. Hoboken is very close by and you could visit Willow Billiards.

Here's their address and phone #:
1313 Willow Ave
Hoboken, NJ 07030
(201) 420-4049

It's just by the corner of Willow Ave. and 14th St. and about a 5 min drive from downtown Jersey City.

Willow is not a huge room, but it is one of the better rooms in the area.

any others

anyone else know of a good pool room close to jersey city? come on, there has to be something close

Forget 21 Billiards in Edgewater

I was told 21 Billiards (in Edgewater) last day was August 31. I heard this yesterday and have not confirmed it. Family Billiards in Bergenfield is closing soon too I'm told. Gotham Billiards is still closed but if they're serving 90 days license suspension, they should reopen next week. Bayonne has a room that looked pretty good when I passed it. Secaucus has Herbert's. Weehawken has Hi-Tech (called Cue-Time in some listings). The way they're closing up around here, call and make sure they're open before you make the trip.
Sports Billiards in Palisade Park and Joker Billiards in Fort Lee are mainly Korean 4 ball places and are pretty far.
I think Willow is your best shot also, followed by Hi-Tech (pretty hard to find in the basement of a hi-rise) and Herbert's. The NYC rooms are pretty close if you're adventurous.
If you have a whole day to spend and a rental car, Comet Billiards in Parsippany is about an hour from there. They were featured in Billiard Digest when they opened in the Best New Room category. Lots of top flight players, good equipment, nice atmosphere, no alchohol if that matters. Nicest room in Northern NJ.
Try http://www.billiardsspace.com/ to search for other rooms. Billiard Spectacular 401 Palisade Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07307-1648 and Open Front Billiards Club 913 Montgomery St, Jersey City, NJ 07306-5907 are listed but I've never been to either place.

I live in Jersey City. There are no good rooms here. Willow in Hoboken is decent. The next closest (without going into NY) is Castle in Secacus

very confused

this thread was started by DrCuesProtege, member since 2004, number of posts = 1600+, location = SW Indiana. Now, is showing up as "dpence" from Chicago, 47 posts. Earlier, DCP made a very strange Travis Trotter copy post. What is going on? Is somebody hijacking screen names? If so, who?

I'm out here in Jersey to see some family, I just got back from a place called 'Sharky's' (soon to be SandCastle). Really nice room, clean, and the equipment is really nice. I think it's in Edeson(?).
Theres also Comet's. I haven't been there, but I hear it's nice, and theres obviously some nice action in that room. It's about 40mins west of Hobokin.

J&J Billiards

J&J Billiards in Scotch Plains has some 9ft Gold Crowns and some 9ft other tables and some decent shooters. 1985 Rt 22, Scotch Plains, NJ. If you stop by, ask for Justice.

Take the PATH train from your choice of these stations: Newport-Pavonia, Exchange Place, or Journal Square, to 9th St in NYC. Walk two blocks to 11th St and another 2 or three blocks east down 11th to 4th Ave and you'll find Amsterdam Billiards. It's a quick trip.
