Traveling with cues with ivory

I thinking about traveling to different countries to play pool, but I have heard that some countries have a problem with you carrying cues with ivory in it.

I have heard, but not sure if this is true that the customs in phillipines will not allow people to bring cues with ivory in it.

Does anyone know about this, or about other countries? How about taiwan?

Thanks

I rhink you could bring an elephant into the Phillipines and Taiwan and they wouldn't care. The problem with ivory in cues comes in shipping them and having them go through customs. The problem countries are Japan (maybe), some of Europe, and America. Especially Alaska.

I don't think I have ever heard about a personal cue being challenged.

I have taken my own personal cues to Japan with Ivory many times. I have never had them looked at on the way in. I've been asked what they were and had them looked at several times as I was leaving (this was by security, not customs).

I've not heard of any issues as well with customs confiscating a cue with Ivory. I travelled the whole of Asia before due to work and carry my cues with Ivory (Ferrule, Joint and Butt cap) on them. I'm on the desk job now for 3yrs and still travel from time to time going home to Philippines and on holiday around Asia.

Of course when asked what it is, I just say pool and/or snooker stick. Pool if say Philippines or Singapore or Tokyo. Snooker if Hong Kong, Thailand. Whatever is more popular on that country I'm going into. :)
