Traveling with Ivory cues

Probably no one on here or we would have heard about it. I am sure it has happened though. I would think it is only an issue traveling international. No one is opening luggage in the bottom of the plane looking from ivory as you fly from Miami to LV..

I don't think they crawl through them on international flights either. Every time I bring back Cubans I got No problems. Though it's a bit of a different animal.

I'm pretty sure they use a scanner technology

From my understanding its a blue light and a hot needle .

Blue light you can see the grain in the ivory, Hot pin is a red hot pin stuck in the ivory and you can smell the difference from melting plastic and animal bone or antler.

Oregon passed a law that ivory and mammoth ivory is now illegal to sale in the state.

I know one of our az members who lived in Alaska and is or was a cue dealer who carried many hi end custom cues had all of his cue confiscated and the ivory was pried out of the cue with a pocket knife or chisel.
He said the cues were destroyed when he got them back after a several month ordeal.

The only country that is legal for you to sale your cues in are in the country you are in now ( Korea )

And seeing this thread is starting to turn into a cues with Ivory for sale and you are willing to break the pre band laws which you already have by having a pre band ivory cue made in the USA and now the cue is in Korea.
And you are willing to break the international law again by selling it and trying to ship it into another country.

I also noticed and have never seen before that your I trader is tarnished on your very first transaction.

And you are posting a thread in the main forum that is open to the public to read that you have every intension of breaking the pre band law.

Thanks

mammoth ivory is now illegal? I think that boat has already sailed for that endangered species.

Needed to edit this post,

I'm going to go ahead and clear some of the flagrant assumptions you've just asserted about me

1. I didn't bring it here.
2. I live here, and bought it here.
3. It would be nice to have it in the US, but not necessary. I was just curious if others have had this dilemma where your damned if you do and damned if you don't
4. It's not for sale, yet.
5. My Rep was tarnished by some trying scam southwest cues. go look at the people who rated the guy as positive, and surprise its all the same people rating each other. not only that I was contacted by someone else on the forum asking cause they notice some fishy sh*t too. I tagged him as a fraud, as I felt my duty... and he retaliated.

here is two of his raters who was tagged as a fraud by another user...

regardless of your rank assumptions, you do make decent points about the efficacy of actually doing it. I was just curious what others experience was.... I still haven't heard from someone who has actually done it. (not that I would expect too)

You do know that you just confessed to a felony, taking a cue that has ivory in it out of the usa that is not 100 years old or older is breaking the 1988 pre ban Ivory act.

I have been trying to get this message to you from my first post.

1 You have broke the 1988 pre ban law.
2 is you have confessed to breaking the law in writing on a public forum.
3 is it sounds like you plan on breaking the ivory law in the future.
4 Is your so careless about breaking this law its like waving a red flag to the feds say hey look I don't care about the pre ban law and either does any of the other pool players.

Part of the reasons the honest people who have ivory cues can not sale them in some states.
Everyone who abuses this law is contributing to us loosing or rights to own
,trade and sale legal pre band ivory

As of snitches, they are not needed all any customs agent has to do is google ivory and this conversation will come up.
And you made sure to that you said everything you needed to hang yourself if they decide to come after you.

Ivory in cues and importing them and exporting them is illegal and it has been for 27 years .
So what year was the cue that has ivory in it made, you know the one that you smuggled out of the country illegally !

I I figured from my first post you would of caught on to be careful about what you say.

I said it very clear that it was illegal and your posting on a public forum and I fully believe that the fed are monitoring every forum that the members might be buying selling and shipping ivory.

2 cue suppliers have already gone down on breaking this law, the feds know we like and use ivory.

And your posting how you have already brought a cue out of this country illegally, Allot of states are writing knew ivory laws.

I have nothing against you, just didn't want to see you dig yourself into a open a shut case if the feds do monitor the forum or thread and I don't want you giving the fed more info so it will the law makers feel the pre bans laws are not effective so they feel compelled to write new ones.

I didn't take the cue out of the country it was here already and I'm pretty sure I haven't broken any US laws. Nor do I intend too.

but more importantly Why should I be afraid of talking about it, owning Ivory isn't a crime, Should we just bury our heads in the sand because mother ship is watching? ooh we can't talk about failed policies... they'll come get us. whatever... Come get me for voicing my opinions...

"Everyone who abuses this law is contributing to us loosing or rights to own
,trade and sale legal pre band ivory"

BS your inability to formulate an argument and unwillingness to fight the wrong headed, right hearted law is your reason for loosing your rights

and honestly I don't have to pay attention to US felony laws since I'm not in the US. I could Care less what the US feds think about what I say. I'm not in their little box to govern. Excuse me but Draconian laws that were passed by people who don't understand a free market make me puke a little in my mouth.. now you got me venting about rights and blah blah blah...

Please don't take anything I'm saying as a jibe at you personally, I enjoy our debate. I think you make good points though you should understand I was just seeking advice.

I really didn't miss the debate..
You were debating if you wanted to travel from Korea to the USA with a cue that has Ivory in it.
The Cue was shipped out of the USA illegally ( AS per you, you didn't export the cue or had it imported into Korea ) but it is yours now and its still a illegal to have regardless who originally exported the cue out of the USA...
Once the cue left the USA illegally it doesn't make any difference what country its in
even back in the USA the cue.s history of traveling around the world as counter band makes it illegal know matter what country its in and who ever owns it.

That is the letter of the law, personally this is all insane for the people who don't abuse the 1988 pre band ivory laws.
We don't like seeing elephants murdered for there tusks and what Ivory some of us do own is legal.

This is where the debates stops, is in all reality it is illegal to own that cue no matter what country it is in.............
If your intent was to bring that cue into the USA illegally Please don't post you criminal intent in a public forum where it can take the rights away from the members who do own legal pre band ivory that has been inlayed in their hi end cues...

Here is the phone number to US CUSTOMS you are welcome to call them up and get the truth on how they check for Ivory what ae the fines and would you be arrested .
If you are outside the U.S. you must call 202-325-8000.
Good luck debating this when the law is like brick wall.......

Is "counter band" some sort of legalese? Or is it some type of countercultural music?
