Triangle pro chalk.

Tweeten fibre has released their new premium chalk, Triangle Pro. Comes in green only (sadly), I dont know if they are planning on making a blue version of it.

I ordered a few cubes to try out and I must say that it is a good chalk. It is a bit softer feeling than Magic chalk or masters but nothing like Kamui though. A bit similiar to Blue Diamond I'd say.
The color is darker shade of green than the usual green chalks wich I like a lot. As far as cosmetics go I like the wrapper aswell, pretty chalk in a nice wrapper.

As for the thing that matters; how does it perform?
I wont try to place chalks in an order as wich is best, I'll just use them to compare different qualities of this chalk.
The new Triangle grips well, stays on adequately and doesnt seem to make a mess. I find myself chalking about on every other shot when shooting drills. I have never miscued with it as of now but I dont feel comfortable shooting dozens of shots without chalking so it is not as long lasting as Magic chalk is but I dont see any issues with that as I chalk pretty often anyway. The chalk doenst stick to balls like Kamui does nor does it leave excessive chalk lines on the table. I used the chalk on blue cloth for several days and it still looks like a table so it gets my approval of cleanliness. It does however make a little more dust when wiping it on, a bit like BD. Not an issue if you chalk right. If you drill with it with your bridge hand I'd say you are guarenteed for a green hand and shaft pretty fast  It actually feels a tiny bit softer when shooting than the usual Master I use as it makes a pleasant sound when striking the ball with extreme english. I like it and I will keep playing with it for a while to see how it lasts.

Long story short; it is a decent chalk and definitely has the premium feel to it. Costs a few bucks per cube so it wont break your bank if you leave it behind. Wont make a ball more than any other chalk but still worth a try in my opinion :o

Have you tried NIR chalk yet Kimmo, that's my favourite chalk by far. Not too expensive, stays on real good and you dont wind up with smurf blue hands like with Predator chalk.
Mezz has a new chalk on the market too, I'll send you a cube when I get my hands on some

^ Nope, I haven't tried NIR yet, got to order some on my next supply order

PM me your address please, I'll get you a cube of triangle pro in mail if you'd like

I LOVE the Kamui 0.98.
Once you go there you simply don't feel like messing with anything else.
It's like buying a Rolls. You've arrived....lol
Talk about having to watch out for not overdrawing....hehe
Also really like to not have to chalk on every dang shot.
Can play through a whole game of 8, 9 or 10 ball and just concentrate on the game.

Peradon is the official dealer. Meaning the chances of seeing it in blue is rather small because Peradon is snooker orientated.

There are so many different premium chalks and claims that it's become akin to mfrs. of golf balls.

Every brand claims the same things...... #1......the softest....most spin....highest.....lowest......straightest.....longest.......

How much is pretty reasonable to spend for a cube of chalk when it is provided free at pool halls?

Sellers always think of the price as it relates to a box of the chalk. Things like tax and shipping don't count.
Intelligent buyers always take into consideration the incidentals like the tax, S&H. postage, etc.

The average cost is never the same the way sellers & buyers of chalk look at price but the buyer is right.
It is what you pay to get the chalk that determines how much each cube costs. That's just common sense.

So back to my question. How much is a reasonable price to pay for a cube when it comes free at every pool hall.
To kick start this discussion, I offer a number that I think is fair when you buy in a small quantity.

$2.50 - $3.50 per cube includes tax. shipping or handling. Sellers avg.more like $5 to $6 from what I've seen.
Now cleanliness, less chalking. etc. are considerations but let's stick to price just for now....what's reasonable?

Not trying to sound negative towards you but my first thought when I read your post was....it was humorous that a person who spends thousands on cues is questioning what's a reasonable price for chalk when you can get it for free.

Just like all cues are not the same....all chalk is not the same.

What's a reasonable price for chalk is just like what's a reasonable price for a cue.....purely subjective and what you are willing to pay for it.

Put ivory in the chalk. He'd pay $100 a cube for it.

I've Been Known To Occasionally Splurge a Little Bit.......

Ivory is too hard but I've read that powdered rhino horn can add a bit more grit.

Actually a point might be if you chalk all the time, then pool hall chalk is just fine
The places I play use Master Flag and the chalk is new or in really good condition.

Personally, I have stated my views on the Forum as to which brand I use and why.
My post was intended more as just general discussion about chalk & how it's viewed.
I selected price as my observation about chalk since at the pool hall is free & just fine.

If I get picked on about some of my posts because of what I spend on a pool cue. well,
I suppose I'd better get ready for a bunch of guff if I can land the cue I am searching for.

And if I am lucky and do score that cue, my views about what chalk to use, which brand is
my favorite & why pool hall chalk works just as well when you chalk on every shot won't
change because of how much this new cue will cost. You see I do not place a premium on
chalk like some folks because it comes free & seems to work every bit as well as other chalks.

It;s like arguing that to be a superior player, you really need to play with low deflection shafts.
The technology is better than just wood shafts. The same thing could be argued about chalks.
It's all a bunch of marketing hype because today's players are not any better than the greats
of yesteryear. Now that;s likely to start a more spirited discussion than chalk does nowadays.

I play with good old Master Chalk at the poolroom and it's free. I chalk up after almost every shot as it is part of my PSR so premium chalks are a waste for me. I have been playing more one pocket lately and nobody chalks more than a one pocket player.

Thanks for the review kimmo, I will definitely give it a try, as my home table has the classic green cloth.

As for the discussion about premium chalks, I use magic chalk, not because I don't think others don't work, but I like having my own chalk on my back pocket. I take the wrapper off, super glue a washer to the bottom of the cube, rewrap in packaging tape to keep moisture out, then wrap again in masking tape. Put a neodidium magnet in my back pocket and it sticks to my butt. I know right where it is and it goes right back on after chalking, and into my case when I'm finished playing.

I can usually wear a whole cube down until it breaks due to being so thin. Paying $3.50 for a cube of chalk, is more for the sake of me owning it, no one else uses it, I know where it is when I need it. I also like the way Magic chalk goes on better than any other chalk, evenly and smoothly.

Off topic I know but I'll take this time to shit on Kamui chalk. It is by far the worst gimmick, cloth ruining, ball marking pos chalk on the market. It's rude and offensive to use it on any table imo. It's like taking an oil paint marker and smearing it all over the table. It is also the biggest rip off of all the rip off's in the industry. It should be banned from billiards.

When I ran a poolroom I bought Triangle Blue by the gross.
I still think it is the best of standard chalks.
I do not know anything about the newer pricey chalks.
Never bought them never tried them.
Didn't need to.

I would like to see the new darker green Triangle if somebody has a picture or a link.

Do you know the balance point and dimensions of the chalk you use?

I'd love to give this a look when they make it in blue. Until then, it may as well not exist for me.
