Triangle vs. Moori

For the last year i have been playing with a Southwest...
The first thing i did was put a Moori Medium on one shaft, because that is what i have always played with. But one day, i screwed on the wrong shaft, the one with the triangle tip...
I found that i got more action and feel from the cue and that i moved the cue ball much easier. I have since only played with the Triangle shaft.

How many out their play with Triangle? Any input on the matter would be apreciated.

The sniper has a better consistency and doesn't musrhroom. It is like a triangle on steriods!

I haven't looked back since switching to sniper!
 
If Triangle tips were $12.00 each and Moori tips were $.50 each, I think I would still choose the Triangle. Since it's the other way around, I know Its the only tip I will have installed on a cue.
I have a Moori medium on a predator sneaky that I play with occasionally and it just doesn't feel as "good" as my other cues (all tipped with triangles). JMHO
 
I too have had this happen to me. I also like the hit of the triangle better than the moori. Buts thats just my 2cents. What ever makes you happy and makes you play better thats what I`d stick with.
 
I've played with them on some of the cues I've had and have one on my sneaky now. I generally like them. But they are a bit soft if you play a lot so you'll have to change them quite a bit. I don't like to wear down shaft diameter so I play with harder milk duds now.

yep they play close. I always used triangle but the quality seemed to diminish. The triangle tips that I was using started flaking and breaking apart. I switched to sniper and they play about the same but without the flaking
 
I have used Triangle tips for about 5 yrs now. They are all I care to use. The only problem with them is that out of a whole box of them, there may only be 10 good ones. JMO.

Virtually any laminated tip is far superior to a single layer tip as far as consistency.

The Triangle might have the right "feel" for you, but you are missing out by not using a laminated tip.

Like some others have said, a Sniper would be the most comparable laminated tip to the Triangle "feel".

I will have to definitely check that out when i change our my tip. Currently i've been using Triangle for some time now and wanted to change the tip to see how other fair out.

I agree, If it weren't for sniper tips I would still be playing with triangle tips.
 
Triangles Kick!!

I love them, I have the cue tech person press the holy hell out of them before the install, but like southpaw said, the box is full of poop ones.
 
As far as consistency is concered they do tend to fade a bit...where as Moori is concerned they stay 'true' forever. But the feel and control with Triangle is just far better.
...So, that said...
Is it worth feel and control, but having to change tips every few months, to maintain the feel.
Or stick with the Moori, and forget about changing tips for a good while?

Four people on here have recommended the Sniper Tips and their similarity to the triangle tips. Perhaps you should try a sniper instead of the "mooshi's".

I will say again, if I were not playing with the Sniper tip, I would still be playing with triangle tips.

LaPros used to be like that, too. Just a few out of a box of 50 might not mushroom. That was my problem with Triangles, they mushroomed every time I played with them. They were on the cue when I got it and no longer own that cue. Would like to try Snipers, but that probably won't happen for a while.

I had problems with Triangles when I used to order them in 14mm diameter. I have since switched to 13mm tips, and I press them in a vise for a day, 5 or 6 at a time, as soon as I get the box. Before I put them on cues, I press them in the vise again for 20-30 minutes, and then install them. They are the best playing tip on the market for the money. I love them. I've had too many issues with miscues with laminated tips. No matter how well they are made, there will always be an exposed glue line on the top of the tip, and they may not hold chalk as well as the leather surface. What you gain in consistency, in regards to hardness, from a layered tip I feel you lose, in terms of chalkability. The Triangles may not wear as nicely or look as pretty, but I really have to screw up to miscue with a Triangle.

If you like the feel of the triangle then try SNIPER.

They play a lot alike, but the SNIPER is a better more consistent tip. It will last longer just like the moori too!

You wouldn't happen to be DCP posting under another name would you?
 
I had been playing with moori tips for a couple of months. I have switched back to triangle. I never have had one mushroom or flake by the way! I never sand on it or mess with it once it is on though.
 
Old School

I have played with low deflecton shafts for years: Predator, Predator2, OB-1. And played with layered tips for years: Moori, Sniper, Kamui. This morning, I decided to go "old school" and took a shaft that came with a Lucasi cue, cut off the Moori medium that was on the shaft, and stuck on a Triangle. Now, I'll admit that it took a while to adjust, but after about two hours I was playing as well with this cue as I would have been with an OB-1 shaft and Sniper tip.
