I have been reading a book about photography lighting and its effects, the book is called Light Science and Magic .
In this book one section is about light striking a smooth surface.
And honestly I think sometimes I need sun glasses for some of the places I play pool at because of the sun shinning through a window and creating enough glare to burn my eyes at 100 yards.
I would like to keep this thread as a educational tool if anyone decides to make there own pool table lights or when buying a table light which light will help you see your aim point or does the light actually hinder your sight because of the brightness of the glare.
If you haven't studied light then you should know it is a very complex subject and worthy of any rocket scientist to study this subject in depth.
So what we think without researching this subject could be very incorrect.
Why are the lights dime inside a pool room ?
Without light there are no colors or shapes.......................................................
why are we shooting in the dark ?
Do they turn up the lights for when the tourney is going to be on TV ?
And if so how does that effect your shooting?
How many times have you missed a shot because of glare ?
I also wonder if some of don't use some kind of shooting glasses?
I went thru a time where I lost the eye sight in both of my eyes.
100% blind couldn't see any figures just blurry light.
I sure could get a lot of action on the table when I was blind, no joke.
I had cataract surgery in both eyes, it was truly giving me the gift of eye sight again and I fell very blessed to be able to see again.
But as I was going blind even dim light hurt my eyes and made me squint.
Also if there are some photographers who are having trouble getting there cue photos to look professional then this thread might be very helpful you too.
So is there any lighting companies really make lights to only illuminate pool balls or subjects that have a smooth surface.
Lets just say that light is the beginning of your aim point and with out it you would be in the dark or it could be so bright it blinds you.
Everyone wants to improve there game, but what if the light is providing unwanted glare?
And you just don't pay attention to the problem and it hinders your game year after year?
