trick shot with a silver dollar

i was channel surfing one night & stumbled across a short collection of old blk/white billiard videos.

The whole thing couldn't have been more than 5min long, but the one shot that blew my mind was this one:

It shows a guy setting what looks like a silver dollar between two pieces of chalk so that it stands up. then he shoots at the silver dollar so that it rolls up table, hits the rail & comes back between the two pieces of chalk.

Has anyone else seen this or maybe has the video?

I believe this is what you are talking about.

I think Nick Varner used to do this with balls instead of chalk.

we used to do that shot back at colonial billiards in elizabeth city... i think i was like 12 years old when one of the old-timers showed it to me.

it's easy to make it come back through the two pieces of chalk.. we used to try to bring it back through without touching them at all.

I have done the silver dollar shot many times. It's actually easier to do
than it is with a pool ball... the siver dollar does't take any wayward english off the rail.

yeah, that's the shot....looks cool as hell (now i just have to find a silver dollar).

This was one of the first trick shots I heard of when I started playing, that, and the "Spit" shot.

joe balsas

joe, had a trick where he would put a ball in the corner pocket and take a silver dollar in the opposite corner pocket leaning up against the rail in the pocket. he could shoot the dollar about 1/4 into the table and have the dollar curve back and make the ball.

Danny DiLiberto performed this shot only a few weeks ago at Jeantte Lee's house for a few of us. He used a one-ounce silver coin. It was sweet to see.
