trim rings?

I'm finding that I REALLY like cues with trim rings, and included my latest cue purchased, below...The trim rings anyways. I'm finding for me personally its easier holding onto a cue that has trim rings on it, even if its not used as much cause I really do like em'. I know mine are basic rings, but they make a good start to owning nice cues, and not just sneakies like I bought before. Knowing myself very well, I'm sure it won't be long before I own more cues with trim rings...But I want to see some examples of trim rings in cues that you guys may have, or even have for sale. So...let me see what ya' got!

p.s. Yes, I've already had numerous good offers on this cue, and have turned em' all down. Weird, huh? lol

trim rings

More simple trim rings for ya'. I think these two cues are a decent start to getting into more elaborate designs, don't you?

This is of the same cue though. This cue and the one above are my only two right now

I'm with you. Ringwork, next to wood selection, is what makes or breaks a cue for me. Wood selection being the same, I will take a plain jane with nice ringwork over a cue with points and veneers but little or no ringwork. I also prefer brass over nickel silver if it's metal ringwork.

The pics you posted show some good simple ringwork. I especially like the red ringwork...stands out.

And I noticed that both cues are DZ (Dzuricky) cues. How do they play? Are they stiff hitters?

Here's a few of my favorites...

Ah, yes. Railroad track ringwork is simple, yet elegant, and looks damn good.

I believe both Bryan Mordt (BCM) and Travis Niklich (Blackcreek) use railroad track ringwork as their signature ringwork. The pic you posted, PoolTablePro, looks like a Blackcreek if I'm not mistaken.

good guess

Good call on who the maker is...yes, they both are DZ cues. IMO, they play fairly stiff for the most part, nothing like a mcdermott, meucci, or anything else whippy. They are more comparable to a schon, and how stiff they play. IMO, they play pretty well...which is why I currently own 4 of them. You'd have to try one out and form your own opinion on this to accurately describe it to you, cause I'm not out to promote his cues anymore...I got myself in trouble for doing that before. check out his website and see for yourself. dzcues.com

Aah yes...Those are nice examples of ringwork, thanks! While I'm not a huge fan of the "railroad track" trim rings, I however do like the other examples very much. The top "kikel" ringwork, are those ebony diamonds into ivory rings? Thats what it looks like to me, but maybe I'm wrong. Nonetheless, it looks very good!

I certainly will be procuring one of Travis' cues soon, but those rings are from Mr. Troy Downey.

It's actually ivory inlaid into ebony!!!!! 96 total pieces on the cue

My mistake. Does Mr. Downey use railroad track ringwork as his signature as well?

No apologies necessary! Troy has experimented with many ring combinations, and I think the closest thing to a signature would be elliptical diamond shaped inlays, as he uses them frequently.

Here's Nitti's signature ivory dash ring work :)
This variation is only found on his older cues (Pre-2004, I believe)...

OK, now we're talkin'! This is one variation of the "railroad tracks" I could live with! They look very nice like this with the ivory thrown in!
