Trusting Your Eyes

That test was almost as impressive as your Blog, Colin. You provided some of the greatest detail that I have ever read from a pool player. Good luck on the IPT and thanks for the opportunity to look at some of your systems, training and insight into your game.

Related to aiming, sighting, alignment and the difficulties with accurate perception and trusting your eyes.

Here is an online test about the senses. A few of the early tests provide good examples of why we can't always trust our eyes.

Very interesting. The one about which one is bigger, Godzilla or .. really threw me. I missed others but this was really a significant miss.

Me, too. So that may explain why the big ol' mud ball sometimes looks just like the others, especially on a table that is sloped, like the ones on which I usually play. :D

And the checkerboard one with the differenet shading was quite a mind-fug, too. Which reminds me... have you ever used the 9-ball as the cueball? Embarassing, aint it?

Thanks, Colin...now you've made me aware of my eyes again. Damn you!

Thanks Joey,
Hoping to keep adding more to the blog now I've got video capabilities. And should be able to provide some interesting commentaries from the IPT events.

oops.....I forgot about that Mr. Melon:p :D

btw: I rarely mistake other balls for the CB. Less than one in 50 shots:o ;)

I managed to get 20 out of 20. Reason being that i took psychobiology and when we were on the chapter on senses we had learned all this stuff. So all i did was adjust to everything. Still, great find.

Colin are you playing lots of different people as part of your training as well as any tournaments, gambling etc.?

I would imagine going to different pool halls, playing on new equipment, and playing different people under different circumstances would enhance your chances of performing well on the IPT. You can't beat repetitions but the others play an important part in developing a personna that stands the test on tournament day.
Warm Regards,
JoeyA
