Trying to identify a vintage cue

Hello,

I recently purchased this vintage beauty. It is Rosewood, has a cortland wrap and what appears to be an ivory butt. the butt is unique and Ive never seen one like it.

My friend told me it might be an older Huebler, but all of the older Hueblers Ive found have a different joint.

Please let me know if anyone has any idea who made this or might have made this.

Helmstetter or Palmer. Leaning towards Palmer but it looks like someone did some 'work' to the butt cap.

I saw in another post that it may possibly be an old Adams Signature series cue, but I am not 100%.

Do you have any idea what the value might be, as I may be looking to sell or trade the cue soon.

It is definitely an Adam/Helmstetter.

One shaft? Is it straight? Looks a little grubby. Might pull $175.
 
If all its worth is $175 than I overpaid handsomely for the cue lol. I would be dissapointed if it is only worth $175 as a great deal of work seems to have been put into making this cue and the replaced butt seems to be ivory.

I also looked up Palmer cues and it could be one of them. All I know is it is all Rosewood, has an original tiger maple shaft and the cue hits solid, but does make a "ting" sound sometimes, especially when medium to heavy force is used to hit the ball. There is also a small roll out on the cue, which from what I understand is not uncommon with vintage cues.

If it is ivory, add a few. I had a Helmstetter with the exact rings on this cue.

Unfortunately, they don't fly off the shelf. It may go for more during a 7-day eBay auction, but on AZ you handsomely overpaid

I like the bolt myself, but every nit on Earth will come out to say it isn't original and it hurts the value.

EDIT: I see the ivory grain now. Nice.

Other than the pin and joint there is nothing about this cue that might be characteristic of a Palmer.

If it is/was a Palmer, it has been modified.

I appreciate all the help fellas. It was really bugging me that I coudn't identify it and I am happy to now know.

Not sure if I am going to keep it, bit I do like it and think it is a very well made cue, plus I love me some Rosewood and the new butt is really nice.

The rosewood is great and it is probably a fine player.
 
Dammit! My initial reply was only one word....Helmstetter. Then, I started to second guess myself and, ultimately, talking myself into Palmer.

I need to stick with my gut feelings....

Not so bad - at first glance I thought Palmer too. At one time they had joint rings very similar to the ones on this cue.

This cue is from the good old days when Adam did make solid playing cues.

Regardless of whether the cue is a Palmer or a Helmstetter, it's a shame that the butt
cap repair will have such a negative affect on the resale value

It does have similar trim rings to Palmers made by Adam/Helmstetter if that counts.
