Trying to price my Ernie Martinez/Showcase cue

I had Ernie make me a custom cue in 1994 when he was still at Showcase. It has a cocobolo butt with some silver inlay and cocobolo points in ebony with some silver inlay. It's wrapped in black and white irish linen. Since he finished it on his birthday he signed and dated it Ernie Martinez 11-9-1994. The varnish has darkened so it is really hard to see the points and signature. Any ideas what it is worth?

Without knowing what the entire cue looks like, number and condition of the shafts, I would say $500 to $700.
Some of my best playing Ernie Martinez cues were made when he was at Showcase.

Ted's probably right on top of it ... that could even be a tad generous, but sounds pretty reasonable and close. I was thinking 4-700 depending on overall condition and # of shafts.

On a side note, I used to spend a lot of time at Ernie's shop in Commerce City back then (mostly 1995-96) and I told him I thought the tiny nickel-silver inlays were very classy. I think yours looks to be a nice simple cue.

Ok so trying to get a clear picture of this cue is like herding cats. It has seven cocobolo points, three long and four short set in ebony. The varnish is so dark you can't even really see them anymore. I really don't want to have it refinished because then his signature is gone. I have two shafts for it with custom protectors he made. He tried to talk me into edging the points in a lighter wood to make them stand out but I didn't listen. I'd like to know if anybody has an email for him or anything because I would like to get back in touch. I paid 700.00 for it in 1994.

I'm sure that Ernie would charge $1200 or so to make a new one, but I'm looking at it from what it would sell for as a used cue, and without seeing any detail or the shafts.

Some cues are hard to photograph
Here's some EM cues, the second cue from the top is from Showcase as well.
Very hard to get any detail in the points.

This might be a stupid idea but did you try to contact Ernie? I don't deal in custom cues so I really don't know if it would be a good idea to try and contact the cuemaker, but it seems to me that he is pretty likely to know if there is a market for his stuff and what the value might be
