Titlist conversion with more work into it than any other Titlist conversion I've ever seen.

Cue was made for his daughter Linda aka "Punky Punk", she was aspiring to become a pro player.

Interesting double threaded joint, 5/16" x 18 brass joint screw plus stainless steel shaft collar is male threaded and the inside of the stainless steel butt joint collar is female threaded.

Shaft has 9" curly maple bottom end with 40 inlays attached to straight grain maple front. The shaft is 12.25mm at the ferrule and remains so for 15".

Rosewood handle is checkered like a gun stock with veneers and interesting marquetry work spiraling 180* around.

The forearm is gun drilled 3", there is a 3" tenon on the handle with a 5/16" screw to attach it to the forearm. This has to be one of the first examples of coring a cue.

I wonder what ever happened to the PUNKY PUNK?

more Cal Hedden photos

I got a little artistic photographing this fine old cue.

More information on the cuemaker can found on these links ~ http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=123787 ~ http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=35596&highlight=hedden ~ http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=36636&highlight=hedden

I'd like to see some his other work. Somebody out there must have one, this ain't the only cue Cal Hedden could have built, he made cues from the 60s until ? this one is dated 1971.

This photo shows the double threading on the joint and the tenon on the handle.

Two shafts ~ one with a curly maple splice and many inlays.

Cored forearm ~ way ahead of his time ~ notice how thin the Titlist is under the ring.

Different perspective of the handle tenon and joint ~ center drilled joint pin.

Inscribed ~ 'Designed & Handmade 1971 by Daddy' & 'For Punky Punk'.
