Has anyone taken lessons with Joe Tucker? I've seen his videos and he looks like he would be a good and patient teacher. Does he hound you to buy his lazer aimers? I don't like that kind of sales pressure.

I had lessons from him many years ago and I thought he was a good teacher. That was a while ago, but I see no reason that would have changed. I'd be very surprised if he pressure you to buy anything, just isn't his style.

I took three days worth of lessons from Joe. He had the key to Snookers and we would get there early before the regulars woke up. All in all, I would say he spent about 8 hours a day with me, and maybe 4 on the final Sunday so I could get home (5 hour drive).

He is an excellent teacher with lots and lots of knowledge. That boy has spent waaaaaaay too much time in pool halls. He will make your brain hurt. And he is a very patient man to have stayed with me for those three days.

It would be money very well spent for you.

And no, he doesn't pressure you into buying anything, but you may want what he's got to sell. His "Racking Secrets" book is a must-read.

EDIT: And what Scott said - his "Guaranteed Improvement" drill book is one of the best out there, IMO. Real practice drills for real situations.

Joe is an excellent teacher!

I agree with Barbara. I've worked with Joe as his instructor, and taught with Joe (in our pool school), and he's a great instructor. He absolutely will not "hound" you to buy anything...although you'd be dumb not to purchase some of his materials (like his 'Racking Secrets' and 'Guaranteed Improvement' drills dvds). You can't help but learn from him!

I like the saying, "he will make your brain hurt"....That's Joe. Pretty bright guy. The only time you'll have an issue with Joe is if you don't give it your all. Joe wants so badly for his students to improve. The key will Joe is that he's got the eye to tell you exactly why what you are doing is wrong.
