Turning Stone Raffle

how do you mean? i'm a little confused, like put up money for a raffle spot, and the winner get's picked up by the guy hosting the raffle? kind of confusing...who would host this event, the tourny director?

someone reserve spot and raffle it here or just a bounch of people put name in and winner gets $ for spot. I just notice a lot of people posting about playing events and never seem to go. Might help get someone to an event they couldn't afford or spend $ on.

oh ok, so you mean like for example. i host the raffle for spots for a chance to win money to fund the trip and or entry fee? that would be a good idea i suppose, but more people would be interested in pocketing the money. say we did 10 dollar spots for a total of 420 bucks, someone would enter it just to get the dough you know what i mean? but i would do it to fund cues, and sort of supplies and ect.

They entry could be paid and the balance when they finish evet or something. would be too tough maybe.

should do one for the SBE or something. just have whoever holds it do all the booking for the winner. 20 a spot or something.

Good intentions

I don't like to get negative. We have had people throw stones at these raffles already, which alot of us enjoy the raffles. I could see this getting messy. What happens when a person wins, then turns around and sell the trip. I forsee someone, for God knows what reason *****ing about it. then there we go again a 10 page thread on why raffles are wrong. i will go along with what ever the magority decides,I just thank we should stick to billiard products. Cues, Cases etc.

Lets say there is a tournament in Chicago. The raffler has all the money of the raffle and we have a winner. Then, raffller pays the entrance fee, hotel and ticket for the winner. Period. The guy or gal has to go otherwise the opponent there gets a bye :) As simple as that. The winner has 2 options: either go and play or do nothing and lose the opportunity.

I would sooner see it go to the next guy in line like I stated rather than give a bye. Cash would not be an option. The tickets could be book, spot paid no cash to winner unless they play in event.

I just threw this idea out there to see if it had been done or anyone would be interested. I know I would like a trip to the U.S Open or Derby for $50 bucks. The person doing the auction and bookings could keep a few dollars for the work.
