TV coverage was a great first effort.

Well, it does remain to be seen how well it goes over, But I told a few people who don't like to watch pool on TV to watch and guess what, they loved it!

People have to realize all of us pool junkies love to watch entire matches, and love the technical aspect of the game. But the vast majority of weekend players and people who don't play often, can't take sitting through an entire match of the same 2 players, and could care less about every single shot.

I think this is a step in the right direction, remember pool on TV haas been a failure, why in the world would you try the same thing that has failed?

I think it needs to be tweaked, the commentating was not great at all, but the idea of seeing many games and outcomes in only 1 hour is better. And the talking to the players also was great, they still need more emotion.

The live broadcast, like I have said from the start "should" and most likely will follow the same method as golf, following all the players from table to table showing very few complete games, only highlights and important shots or finishes. Golf on TV would fail if it only followed one or 2 players completing a round. Your going to have tape delay of amazing shots mixed in with live coverage of important games, Some pool junkies will also call that a failure.

The only way Pool will become a success on the TV is if it's willing to try different ways of showing it, the old way of showing entire matches of 2 players for 1 hour is not working.

I will leave my final judgment after I have seen the entire series.

I'm glad you started a newer. positive thread about the KOH airing. What did people expect in an hour? I thought it was fantastic...the production value is something never before seen in pool. This will generate interest to the target audience in our sport and things will boom....on track just as projected.

Filming entire sequential matches is the easy way out...that is left for the DVD's that will be available. Out of the hundreds of hours of film, culling the best, the brightest and the most humorous moments - the highlights, if you will, is what is going to spur the advancement of this game.

I liked it, and i am looking forward to the second show this Sunday.
Plays on Ch 52 here, the OLN network at 7:00pm.:)

And what if they would start selling a complete match for $9.95 + shipping. three for $25. (Not sure if they even can sell them for that price but I think the DVD's can be produced quite cheaply).

A person would see his favorite players on TV and would want the whole match so he could go to the IPT site and order them. Hell, if you can sell a book for $14.95 I would think they could produce DVD's pretty cheap.

I agree with all the positive comments. I really enjoyed the coverage, and I can't wait for the next show to air. Mike Sigel impressed me with his on-air talent as a host for the program. He has a confidence about him that reminds me of other great champions. I love the arrogance, and I think others will also. Great job by the IPT crew!
