Well, it does remain to be seen how well it goes over, But I told a few people who don't like to watch pool on TV to watch and guess what, they loved it!
People have to realize all of us pool junkies love to watch entire matches, and love the technical aspect of the game. But the vast majority of weekend players and people who don't play often, can't take sitting through an entire match of the same 2 players, and could care less about every single shot.
I think this is a step in the right direction, remember pool on TV haas been a failure, why in the world would you try the same thing that has failed?
I think it needs to be tweaked, the commentating was not great at all, but the idea of seeing many games and outcomes in only 1 hour is better. And the talking to the players also was great, they still need more emotion.
The live broadcast, like I have said from the start "should" and most likely will follow the same method as golf, following all the players from table to table showing very few complete games, only highlights and important shots or finishes. Golf on TV would fail if it only followed one or 2 players completing a round. Your going to have tape delay of amazing shots mixed in with live coverage of important games, Some pool junkies will also call that a failure.
The only way Pool will become a success on the TV is if it's willing to try different ways of showing it, the old way of showing entire matches of 2 players for 1 hour is not working.
I will leave my final judgment after I have seen the entire series.
