I always enjoy the what is it threads so I thought I would post one of my two most treasured cues. This is not that tough, just thought it would be fun to see what people guessed. And yes, that is real courtland linen.

Nice Lookin Cues. They Look Jensenesque. But That's Just My Opinion. So What Are They.

Since I don't know anything about some of the older cuemakers, I'll take a stab. Coster.

No fair.....there's no joint pics or pin pics. :(

Sean

Just having some fun Sean, If I put joint and pin pics it would give it away to guys like you for sure. Not Jensen, and all white is Ivory except for the delrin buttcap.

These are both customs from Rich Benson in Washington state. They are among the best hitting cues I've ever owned and I've owned a few. Anyone who hasn't tried one is really missing a treat. Rich is a great guy to deal with, but would rather smoke cigars and fish than build cues, so his output is kind of limited. He's got some of the oldest and most seasoned woods for the prongs and the shafts that I've seen in a really long time.

Pathman,

Nice stuff....and I wouldn't have guessed Rich just from what's shown. You're right...the joint would have been a dead giveaway, though. Have had a few myself over the years and they are indeed exceptional hitters !!

Nice cues. A few questions thought:

1.) What is the significance of "real" courtland linen?

2.) Sorry for prying with this question, but how much did these cost?

3.) How many cues does he make a year and how many shafts come with it?

Again...really nice cues. Oh yeah, does he do vaneers?:D

Man I'm an editing nut.(been doing it all day... :p) Since you've said who the cue maker/builder is, can you please show the rest of the cue?

Not real sure what the significance of real courtland is other than it is very hard to come by these days, as it is no longer produced and many builders will hoard it and charge tons for it. It is usally used in re-furbs of the classics, Bushka,Szam,Peterson etc. I just think it is cool that Rich has it and will use it if asked.

Not going to get into pricing, but Rich is incredibly reasonable.

Not sure how many he makes a year, but I don't think it's too many and he will make you as many shafts as you like

I will be posting a veneer pointed cue that he is inlaying for me as we speak, keep an eye out for it. I have a four pointer with veneers that I bought off a fellow azer a while back. I will post a pic or two of this cue, I had Rich make a new shaft for this cue and will sell it for 550 with the original and new shaft if anyone is interested.
