Two Skip Weston's for Sale

Will queue for cues
Silver Member
After much deliberation I have come to the decision to sell a couple of my cues. I am going to be putting the emphasis on finishing school and am thus need a bit more liquidity.

Cue #1: This is the first cue I custom ordered. It pains me to sell this cue the most because it holds such sentimental value for me. This cue has an ebony forearm with 3 hi 3 lo points of amboyna burl with ebony, bloodwood and curly maple hardwood veneers. The butt is sectioned with ebony and amboyna burl with stacked veneers between the sections. Amboyna and ebony ringwork throughout the cue and a black lizard wrap to finish it off. The cue comes with two 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules and matching joint protectors made by Skip for the 3/8x10 flat faced joint. The cue is 58" long and 19.1oz. There is one small ding in the forearm but other than that it is in very good condition. I will post some updated pictures this evening. I am asking $1400 but will listen to all reasonable offers.

One word: Beautiful. I love reverse points, particularly burl in ebony.
Shouldn't have much of a hard time getting rid of this one. Good luck.

Cue #2

I just purchased this cue a little while ago and it is in perfect condition. It has a 5/16x14 piloted ivory joint with ebony and ivory stich rings at A and B and a Bushka ring at C. The cue comes with two 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules and has a leather wrap. The forearm is bird's eye maple with 4 ebony points each with 5 veneers. I'm not 100% sure what the veneers are so I'll let the pictures do the talking here. Each point has a sharp cut ivory diamond with 4 ivory dots. The ebony butt sleeve has three sections separated by two wood rings that match one of the veneers. The butt sleeve also contains 20 ivory dots and 4 ivory diamonds. The points are as close to perfect as you can get on this cue and it is a fine example of Skip's work. This cue is 59" long and I'm not sure about the weight, I'll weigh it tonight. I'm asking $1750 but will consider any reasonable offers.

Yeah, this cue is definitely a stunner and I hate to let it go! I think it feels great too, but since it's so subjective I thought I'd leave that out...lol.

Think that the 5 veneer woods on #2 are.....maple, rosewood (reddish brown), satinwood (yellow), permanbuco (orange), and ebony.

whats the balance point of the ebony/burl skip?

are the shafts skips early taper or the newer one he began using?

thanks

Zack, it pains me to see you're selling those beauties.
I went thru the same thing when I went to a computer bootcamp.
I sold two cues I would love to have back but at that time, it was the right thing to do.
All the best.

The balance point, if I remember correctly, is 18.5" from the butt. That being said, the cue has been sold. Thanks for your interest though.

It pains me too Joey!! Both cues are fantastic cues and I hate to get rid of them.

Sorry to see you let those cues go Zack. Good luck with everything. I'm sure in time, you'll either get those cues back or get even nicer ones.

Yeah, once I finish school and get my finances in order I'll definitely be giving Skip an order for some more cues, one of which will be a similar ebony and burl 60"er as well as a Bushka/Boti/Zeeder inspired design!

I think you are making a smart decision Skip.

Finish the degree, make big bucks...and then you can buy anything you want. Yes, I'm sure these are sentimental to you....but you can always buy more cues. Period!

If I may inquire, what is your degree going to be in?

:o Zack,
I feel your pain. But, like they said above, you're doing the right thing. I hope I can meet you this next year and compare all the cues we want to own someday!

I loved the burl 6 pointer. I would have thought about it but I have other plans... hehehe..

I'm going for a B.S. in Biochemistry. I haven't decided if I am going to go to grad school, med school or just stay in the technical industry (I currently do desktop support). I definitely think I'm making the right decision and I still have two playing cues and two jump breaks that I am going to try to hold onto at all costs.
