Here's a small dilemma. If I just two stroke my shots (or one stroke), I play extremely well. I know this is letting my subconscious play. But if/when I miss a shot I berate myself a bit (you should have taken your time and actually tried to make the dang shot!).
When I do 'try' (basically, a more extended pre-shot routine - I seldom do a lot of sawing back and forth before shooting) I still play well, but the two stroke guy would beat me pretty much every time. Should I write off the occasional miss of the two stroke guy (without berating myself), or should I keep improving the more methodical player and only let the two stroke guy out on those out-of-mind dead stroke times?
I can see improving the methodical player in practice, but - should I play one way in practice and another in match play? Another twist: I have a hard time trusting the two stroke guy in the clutch...
