U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

Interesting to hear that. I remember JL Chang was notorious for hitting well after the 00 showed, and I had wondered about I want to say that Stu told me the rule. Someone needs to correct me if that is no longer the case.

it's no longer the case. 30 sec is 30 sec now, for both predator and MR events. big kaci was possibly even worse than JL chang. looked like the screen had froze

I think I've seen that rule at AccuStats events. I really don't recall whether I've seen that consistently applied at WPA events like Predator or Eurotour stuff.

But my gut says I've never seen that applied at Matchroom events. I'm pretty sure they expect you to execute the shot within the time, i.e. cuetip contact the cueball. They don't have language about being down on the shot and not getting back up.

I don't have the data on this, but it seems filler gets an escort to the final 8 every tournament
Looking at recent events, he doesn't. When he won the European Open, he had to beat Wojciech Szewczyk, Jayson Shaw, Niels Feijen and Mario He. SVB, Biado and Yapp weren't there, either.

He is always a high seed. Sometimes he gets fortunate when lesser ranked opponents beat higher-ranked ones. But if he were getting easy seeding all the time, he'd be winning more WNT majors.

Something is odd about the Matchroom draw. How did five of the seven U.S. players in the event end up in the same quandrant?

In the "U.S." Open no less!

And how does Gorst end up playing SVB in the round of 32? Gorst should be the No. 2 or No. 3 overall seed, SVB no worse than No. 33 since he came from the losers side of the draw.

The top seeds should be rewarded by NOT having to play a player like SVB in the round of 32.

There is about a 3-4% chance of this happening (5+ US players in the same quadrant). If it happens again next year then we can call it a conspiracy 😛

American pool and all the voices (except Scott) are British voices. Same as the MC. And this is the U.S. Open in Texas! You would think that an American might do some of the interviews and introductions. Just like new ball colors Matchroom is transforming our game into theirs!
Americans want to play beer pong on Valley's. Its reflected on both play and promotion. That's the difference.

Manas will become an absolute terror in the next 5 years.

Vogel at 18 is so collected....played Corey just about flawlessly.
It is amazing they play so well- it's not just that they shoot straight, but they are also smart players.

Almost makes me depressed- I've been playing for far longer than they have been alive and I would lucky to win a game against them

Just trying to recall the seeding strategy. It starts in double elimination. That very first bracket is seeded off the WNT rankings. Putting the #1, #2, #3, and #4 as far away from each other as possible. And that seeding seems to be respected down the Top 128.

But when you see the original bracket. The players that went 3-0 through winners qualification, they just entered the single elim bracket in that same order. So if you want to be seeded in the single elim stages, you need to enter via winners qualification. No reshuffling, just the original seeded double elim bracket persisting as-is to the right.

It's just those survivors were then given randomly shuffled losers qualification opponents to face. So SVB losing to Bijsterbosch in DE means he just forfeited his right to any seeding in SE. So the bracket effectively starts getting weird because of the players that took the longer road to survival.

if anything emily would dislike the outcome here. but a draw is a draw.

i suppose a draw could weigh nationality as well as seeding, at least quadrant wise. but it would be less blind

So Filler got a softer draw because Zielinski, Kaci, Grabe, and Morra didn't make it through WQ as the original seeding had planned for. So Hsuan, Juszczyszyn, Makkonen, and Januarta took those slots instead. Not that they're weak, but they're not the chalk he was originally fated to stare down. After that of course the LQ he got assigned was luck of the draw.

A draw is a draw if it is rationale. Since we don't know the full mechanism of the draw, doubts arise.

If I were WNT king, I'd just rank the players 1-64 regardless of how they got there. Their reward for getting to thru via the winners side is just playing three matches.

The loser side players had to put in a lot of work to get into the knockout stage. They were punished enough.

My goal would not be to give the loser side players a break. The goal would to give top seeded players who qualified on the winners side a break. Gorst should not have to face an SVB-like player so early.

Yes, SVB would benefit too by this approach. He would come in on the loser's side, but end up playing a lower ranked player who might have gotten through via winners qualification. But so what? He earned his WNT ranking with good performances over time.

Whatever. The draw is the draw. But if you want ESPN to take notice, the current draw system is not ideal.

It'll be Kaci v Kaci next round if they both win. No conspiracy here

fedor is playing shane "too soon" because shane lost to a 780 fargo. it's unfortunate, but i don't think it's a reason to move away from WQ vs LQ

I think rigging the draw is exactly how you lose credibility and mainstream attention.

The NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA basketball and football, World Cup, and all other legitimate mainstream sports have a common through line: the tournament seeding is based off of performance, not marquee matchups.

There are a couple of upgraded, manned cameras on the main table now. Before there were just a couple of robo cams. Maybe the streaming image will improve.

Psych: they just took'em down. I guess they were just for Natalie.

I didn't say anything about rigging a draw. I am not sure how MR does do the draw. I would like for its system to be published.

I do think WNT could do a better job with the draw that does not involve rigging.

How could they do better? The draw is the draw and it CANNOT get any better than that. Shaking my head.

I bet they dont give 1 shit what you would like. Wow
