U.S. Open Live Streaming Is The Nuts

I purchased the full week long tournament package for my billiard room. The streaming is almost non-stop from open to close on a 48" flat screen at my counter. It is worth while for every AZ member and every billiard room to subscribe for the week. The matches and the commentary are entertaining and instructional. The video quality is superb. Thank you Accu Stats for bringing your excellence to our great game. What a bargain!
 
The only thing I'm not impressed with is the coverage of the losers brackets instead of the winners brackets. Seems stupid to me. I wanted to watch almost every single match on the winners side, and I couldn't have cared less about any of the one loss side matches.
 
I think that it has to do with scheduling. Some days it's all loser's bracket matches. I agree about the coverage though - $53 for a solid week of matches from the Open from 11am to about 1am the next day every day is a bargain.
 
I'm offering a shout out to Pat Fleming and Accustats for choosing to show Mark Gray vs Karl Boyes as Wednesdy's late night match. Gray, a pro snooker player as well as a pro pool player, really gave a nice showing and Wyche and DiLiberto called it well. Gray's tactical play, in particular, was phenomenal.

Of these six players from Great Britian (Chris Melling, Darren Appleton, Karl Boyes, Darryl Peach, Jayson Shaw and Mark Gray), only Boyes has a loss, which, of course was to Mark Gray. The other five are already on to winners bracket round 4.

These players from Great Britain are standing up and being counted in this US Open and I strongly approve of Accu-stats choice to show this match, a sampling of why the players from Great Britain are succeeding in international competition of late. The stream had, to that point, been dominated by matches of high-profile Americans, but the serious pool fan wants to get a sampling of all the emerging stars of international pool.

I fully agree that Accustats is doing a terrific job.

And yes, their coverage of 1-loss side brackets had to do with those being all that were going on at that time.

The stream is brilliantly crisp and clear - at one point during a break, the camera operator was panning the audience and zooming in and out - WOW - they can get some amazing detail. One guy who wasn't seated very close at all had a beautiful red "Mom" tattoo on his forearm that we got to see way up close. :thumbup:

There have been some minor technical issues with the stream blacking out (very minimally) and that big square Samsara sponsor banner popping up when it's not supposed to, but again, these have been very minor and infrequent.

I agree Stu, hard to argue with the success of the Brits to this point and it sure was enjoyable to see Gray with his ash cue doing such a masterful job.

So, I wonder, to what do you suppose these guys owe their successes?

Perhaps it has to do with less pool practice and more golfing. As was reported, apparently they've all been hitting the local links hard. :smile:

Don't overlook the young rising star from Great Britain, Phil Burford. Phil is a student of Stan Shuffett and is having an amazing U.S.Open. He plays Corey Deuel next match!

Love the stream....every pool hall in the world should buy it.
...gives pool a chance to eventually go main'stream'.

And I like the way Wych and Diliberto are getting comfortable with each
other...not unlike the Dilibeto/Incardone hook-up.

KC...nobody else is having 'black-out' problems...it must be you.:cool:

I too, persuaded our local pool room to purchase the entire week's worth of U.S. OPen 9 Ball Championships matches and it is AWESOME.

Still hoping to see Stan Shuffett (who is on the winner's side) or Phil Burford on the TV table before this event is over.
