Well, my first tournament is in the books. I had 21 players show up to play. All the players were very nice people and I enjoyed my day very much. There were some glitches along the way as I am sure there always will be some. All in all it was a good time and everyone played well, from where I sat.

I will have the board and pics to post in a few days. I want to thank everyone involved with the entire process of running this event.

The forum members that helped me to see how to run the best damn tournament I could run. The staff at AZB that posted my info on the front page. I will name names, if given permission. The players themselves as well as Barry Berhman and his daughter, Shannon for allowing me to hold the event. I am forgetting some people and I will add to this list as I remember.

The overall winner is Howie Gordon and second went to Keith Brinton. Both players are being entered in the U.S. Open.

Again, my thanks to all,

Dwight

Glad to hear you had a good tournament. I'm sure you'll have a much better turnout for your next. Thank you for adding two more players to the US Open. Johnnyt

Congrats Dwight, although you intended to get 64, you did well in the current environment. Consider it a success!

Dwight did a fine job for his first tournament!

Unfortunatly he had no support from the poolroom! I was a little miffed when they wanted my ID and $20 deposit for practice balls!, was irritated by the waitress who after ignoring my desire to place a drink order, got into me on my backstroke after finally settling down. but lost it when they wanted to charge me $2 for a cup of water. I withdrew.

I later was told it was not the waitresses fault as she was grabbed, but I would have lost it anyway when they charged for table time on practice. Would have been kicked out when I would insisting that they turn down the jukebox for the Calcutta.

There was no finals played! They agreed to split the prize. Howie Gordon did win the winners bracket though...

Dwight did a remarkable job under the conditions, I hope he decides to continue promting events, perhaps looking into a poolroom that wants the publicity and will provide some support (and some table time! table time was payed for the tables used during the event)

If you can't find support in Tallahassee, you might try Ft Walton Beach, Starcade Billiards will host a tournament there next weekend, You might go see how a tournament goes with some support, and see just how 'Snookered' you were!

good job big dog, i read in another thread that the conditions werent that good but you pulled it off anyway.

you should consider bankshots for the next qualifier.

It amazes me that ANY pool hall would not see the benefits of an event like this. Sad.:frown:
