I just saw this story about how pro UFC fighters are being paid bonuses to tweet more to encourage more interaction between them and their fans and create more consumption of the sport.

Though I don't see it happening because there's no central pool authority to pay the pros to do it, but it would be cool if all the pro pool players could do something similar.

Just some food for thought...

There use to be several pros roaming around here, but I think they got tired of the flame wars.

I wish they'd come back.

Pro pool players should embrace Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Azforums, and Blogging. All the networking would bring more interest in pool. Fans of any sport love to see up to the minute news, photos, and comments by there favorite players.

You put something interesting on Facebook and hundreds of people are exposed to it immediately.

I know it is a huge effort to update all these things, but it sucks to go to a favorite site and its the same information as weeks or even months ago.

I kind of disagree , but understand what your saying . The more i know about people the less i care about what they have to say . I don't want to know about people i enjoy watching in any sport or whatever, think about politics or hear about their personal life or problems .

ESPN , when it came along ruined everything , i don't want to hear about some professional athletes off field BS or what he thinks about squat , just let me enjoy watching your talent and be entertained . I don't want to hear what you think about anything , unless it is specific about what you do.

Don't want to hear about you doing funny things in a public restroom , or arguing with your girlfriend . I think pool players or anybody with any type of notoriety would want to spend their free time doing what they like.:)

You make a good point. I never thought of it like that.

UFC also has started providing insurance to fighters training for upcoming fights as well. After they bought Strikeforce there is no stopping them moneywise or any other way!

I agree about the UFC pathways to success. If some pro's were to get more evolved, I think that the world of pool may benefit from it. I know there are a few pro's that facebook everyday, but not alot that tweet. If the sport of pool is to survive and grow, it sometimes starts with the pro's and the way they act on camera. Besides Earl Strickland, I think the rest of the pro's are doing a good job on showing themselves in good standings.
